Have you looked for someone to do a watercolor portrait of your
favorite family member, house, landscape or animal? Have you liked
what you have seen? Could you afford it?

I looked for someone to do a watercolor portrait of my daughter. I
found this to be true; you get what you pay for. A really good
watercolor portrait done by a well known artist costs a fortune. The
more inexpensive and less well known the artist is the more likely you
won’t be happy with the results.

I found a solution. My name is Sharon Britt. I am an artist working
in computer aided design and graphics since 1988. I use a special
technique on my computer to take photos of people, animals and
landscapes and make them into prints that look just like they were
painted with watercolors. I print them on watercolor paper to further
enhance the watercolor quality of the print.

Please email me with your name and address. I will send a free
brochure. watercolo...@altavista.com

I just hope that you are not copying from professionally created images
which will be a violation the photographers' copyright, and could end up
costing more that you could ever imagine.
Cheers,
Lindsay

Sharon
The vast majority of graphic artist's in this NG are competant with
Photoshop and the operation you are trying to sell - nothing new I'm afraid.

Dear Sharon, you state the following:-

"I use a special
technique on my computer to take photos of people, animals and
landscapes and make them into prints that look just like they were
painted with watercolors."
I think you didn't read your own message as well as Lindsay Merritt did.
The fact is that if you scan a photograph that was professionally made and
attempt to sell any form of derivation, no matter how cleverly disguised
with "watercolor", then you are acting illegally if the photographer, by
law, owns the copyright (either by Federal Law or contractually)
Cases of this type have been tried by courts in many countries and if the
photographer can prove his/her case it's goodbye to your house.

actually, don't bash her so fast. I've been offered a job with a company
that does that. They don't sell them as original, they offer to take YOUR
pictures and create the prints. This is probably what Sharon was doing. IOW,
you give them the picture and the permission, and they do it for you, all
nice and legal like...
