Aged has been voted on, Surreal is being voted on and the next
assignments are:

Airplanes, we can all find something to photograph regarding
airplanes, go to you local small airport, get them taking off,
landing, or sitting still, cockpits, reflections, build details. There
is so much each of us can do as far as airplane go that anyone that
doesn't submit, just didn't try. Due March 1st, 2002

Bridges again, gad, I went downtown Portland with my brother and came
home with some great stuff I want to share, bridges over troubled
water or bridges over troubled land, gorges or just freeway
overpasses. The requirement, is that it is for cars, NOT trains or
pedestrians, we will do those later. Due March 15th, 2003

Trains, tracks, stations or handlers, box cars, steam locomotives or
those little people pumpers, I don't care. This country was created by
rail, lets show the past, present or future. Let you imagination and
talent have some freedom here. Due April 1st, 2003.

Instead of weekly, it will be two a month, do the 1st and the 15th day
of the month with voting going on as long as the next assignment is
out. We will be doing more creative work, we can all take a picture of
our dog or cat looking at us, if it's a pet picture, make something
interesting. I know you love Fluffy just the way she is, but the rest
of us are in a different space, so make Fluffy interesting. If it's a
still life, don't submit a picture of Fluffy taking a nap, if it's an
action theme, please don't take up Fluffy tossing.

The use of software enhancement, filters, burns and dodges, borders,
whatever are acceptable and welcome, this is a digital image site, a
work of advice, tricks for the sake of tricks don't help an image, but
a sepia tone can work wonders as well as 'enhancing' a background.

You are welcome to submit more then one picture if desired. My current
way of formatting the pictures will not provide any description other
then the file name and exif data, not even our names. It was just to
time consuming to cut and past all the info and also made it to easy
for ballot box stuffing.

A two-week lead-time per assignment should be fun, we will not be
rushed or bored by the time it's over.

I would prefer a new image for the contest, but that doesn't
necessarily mean you can't use an old picture as the foundation, I
have been amazed at some of the neat stuff I have done with pictures I
took last week or last year, some a few decades ago, a fresh look with
a assignment in mind makes our creative juices turn old potatoes into
fancy cut fries.

The latest how did you do that article is on creating your home
studio, I'm looking for tips and links to add to it, so please forward
me the information so it can be shared.

If anyone wishes to submit their own "How did you do that article, I
would be happy to post them.

BxBweb Creative Digital Imagery is a picture based web site to help
encourage us to get those cameras out and take pictures, the weekly
shootouts are to help us better see the world around us and hone our
skills at taking memorable photos, not just taking snapshots.

Basic shootout rules: The picture should be taken for the assignment
if possible, we will accept pictures from your archives, but the
premise of the shootouts is to take a picture of the announced subject
matter during the shootouts time frame.

The pictures must arrive in a digital format but their origins may
have been film or any other medium you like to work with.

Voting rules: Encourage everyone you know to visit the site a vote for
the picture THEY like best, although stuffing the ballot box is
possible, the victory if won that was is rather shallow.

To opt out of the heads up mailing list you need to send me an email
to bi...@bxbweb.com, sending to hea...@bxbweb.com would just add you
to the list a second time
