Convert .AI files to .EPS file

I've got about 1,000 .AI files that I want to convert to .EPS files.

Can someone point me to a utility for doing this?

Open them in Illustrator and save them as EPS.

But that is probably not what you are looking for, you are
looking for an automatic batch convertor I guess.

If those files are created with Illustrator 8 or earlier, than the AI files
are already EPS...

Unregistered it allows 10 files at a time to be converted with no expiration
date on the trial period. Registered you are unlimited. Not outrageously
priced and when you factor in the other features you can do during batch
conversion (resize, change res, add border / shadow, etc) with the format
change, it's not a bad product at all. I recently resized 300+ photos, added
a border to all and set them all to uniform resolution while converting
formats. Total time was about three minutes, including my setup.

Can you tell us if you are a PC or Mac User? I have written an apple
script that will do this for you on a Mac. Currently compiled for 10.2
but can be compiled for 10.3.

Can't you just use the built-in batch processing in Illustrator to do this?

Says it is for v10 and vCS, but works flawlessly for v9 also.
