--HELP--How can I create a dot line?

something like ----------------- that but with more space in between. I
need to create a dot line for different images. The dot line is to
create an animation over the image. So please tell me how can I create
the line and also how can I change it to its position. Since I have to
create 2 differents states of dot lines one have to, let say start from
beginning of image and the next one one pixel later.
I.E:


- - - - - - - - - - (first image)
- - - - - - - - - (second image)

Draw your line or image square, circle ect. Go the stroke-gradient box and
check dashed line and see below for gap. Image should be selected if
previously drawn. Don't forget to uncheck dashed line before you continue or
it will continue to put in dashed line strokes
