I tried choosing File->Export, and then choosing "Windows Metafile" for
the format. The problem is that I got a rasterized file instead of a
vector one.
What did I do wrong and what do I need to do to make clipart?
Thank you.
Save as Illustrator EPS. While saving, set the Preview option
appropriately, so you have something nice to look at after you place it
in Word (or whatever).
Exporting into formats other than PDF, ai or EPS gnerally convert the
format, rasterizing the image. EPS will guarantee that the printer sees
the graphic's postscript code rather than a bitmap raster. DWG and its
ilk excepted.
In addition, Setting cropmarks- using a rectangle of appropriate size
around the graphic- before saving will ensure you know what dimensions
you'll wind up with.

But neither Word, nor Wordperfect recognize Illustrator EPS format.
What can I do to get my EPS file into a word processing program?
