Recover AI tmp file??

IS there any way to recover tmp files from the AITEMP directory?
I was just saving my AI 9 file as a version 8 file for the printer and
apparently there were some v9 things in there that could not be converted to
version 8. I am usually quite careful about versions, but this one just
slipped by me. Now when i open the file, the spot colors are messed up and
everything is broken apart and grouped back together. It's a big mess!

Thanks for the reply. I ended up taking the morning and redoing it anyways.
I had to have it out the door this afternoon.

On the subject of AI deleting tmp files. I've only ever seen this work
intermittently on earlier versions. I've been using it since version 5 and
it seems to consistently leave tmp files on the drive and delete preference
settings when i restart. Now with the color space setups it always resets
that too. Any idea how to stop this?
