So, I double click on a layer to bring up Layer Options. I then check
"Template" and "Dim Images to 50%". Nothing happens? Can someone tell me
where I'm going wrong? Thanks!

Dim Images applies to bitmaps brought in, not vector objects.

To dim vector objects, select all the objects on that layer and use the
transparency pallette. Depending what is in your file, may be easiest to
lock all other layers, then Select All and then use the transparency. Lock
that layer and then unlock all the others.
