Adding Arrowheads to Lines?

When I add an arrowhead to a line (as an effect) I'd like the point of
the arrowhead to be located exactly at the end of the line -- seems to
me this is the way one would normally like it to be done.

But instead the center of the arrowhead falls at the end of the line, so
that part of the arrowhead protrudes into the object the line is
pointing to.

Is there a way to change the default on this?

Go to the "Open Arrow". That makes it possible to just
select the arrowhead instead of the whole arrow. Select the
arrowhead (use the Option or Alt key). Move it by hand
(shift key to move it straight). Or determine the posotion
of the end of your line with the Transformer palette, and
type in those coordinates for your arrowhead. Or: select the
line and with shift the arrowhead and align them on the
right side. The arrowhead is cornered, so the line will
stick out though.

In your case I would just move the whole arrow, so the point
of the arrowhead is exactly where you want it........

Unfortunately not. You need to make the line shorter than you want it
ultimately to be. This is a real pain and makes the arrowhead effect
much less useful than it could be.

What you *can* do however is create a pattern brush consisting of line
tiles with arrowheads in the starting and ending tiles. There are even
lots of examples in the brush libraries that you can start with.

Agree with that; it's a real pain.

Thanks; will try it.
