Step & Repeat in Illustrator heres how to.

After much experimentation I have discovered AI does have an excellent step and
repeat, it's just that its well hidden!

Draw your first rung.

Get the "move" dialog box up (object>transform>move)

For a vertical copy put 0 in the position/horizontal box and a measurement in
the position/vertical box, put the same value in the distance box and put 0 in
the angle box. hit copy (DO NOT HIT OK)

For more repeats just hit command D (transform again) hit it as many time as
you need.

So Illustrator does have a step and repeat, its just that its not specified as
a seperate function like it is in Quark.
