I can't find a way to save new print sizes, but you can select custom and
then set the dimensions you need. 'Course, you'll need to do this everytime
for a size not listed in the drop down list. I searched the adobe support
page and didn't find anything there either.

I guess that is because of your printer? A5 is a regular
size that should be there. What printer do you use.

Steg, I don't have A5 either. I have A3 and A4, B5 and something else I
can't remember, but no A5. I actually thought that was unusual too.

Come to think of it.........you are perfectly
right............always printed landcape on A4 and cut it in half.

But I seem to remember A5 was an option in my print dialog
box, when I was still in Europe.

The size options depend on the printer you select.
Illustrator will automatically set it up for whatever printer is chosen as the
default printer and the properties you set for that printer.
If you want to have Illustrator automatically set up for A5 -- and you're on a
PC -- go to Start>Windows>Control>Printer and find a printer that has an A5
option (my epson 880 does, the generic pdf writer does, etc.)
You can find this out by right-clicking on the printer and looking at
properties.
When you find one, set it to A5 and then right click to get properties again
and set that printer as the default.
Illustrator will use that as the default printer setting.

Yes I realize that, it is almost the same as on a Mac (Apple
> Chooser). But I worked with an HP Laserprinter that did not have A5 options, still it appeared on my screen. Never used it though.
