True, the "clientele" was rather totally sucky, with all kinds of
wankers and tossers, but the buildings themselves had no issue that could
not be fixed with plumbing sealants, and some rodent deterrents.....
The new buildings are all recycled products again, with the same
1903 architectural concepts.....they worked ok in 1903, but today's
materials are more fragile, as in the $15 million Jeffrey Ross Building
housing lazy hippies who appreciate condominium rooms for some $600 a
month.....other places are $3,000+++ for the same square area and
facilities....
The Gomez building were Alex lost $160,000.00 in the Guvmint
acquisitions, is leveled to the ground, and the basement rooms and equipment
have been leveled with concrete...I could see if a bomb hit it, but Blighty
intervention is no excuse...
There isn't much activity in the rebuilding of the 25 year old
building but that may seem like a long time for the kids who think they run
the world these days....most are sleeping out around the "44 club" on
Alexander St., and hanging around the soup kitchens around Oppenheimer park
on Powell St.
Was all this done to accomplish something???? Work incentives for an
understaffed wiped out work force, or just plain stupidity.......
