Hotel now accepting bookings!
The hotel is now accepting bookings for the rooms! Room rates are as
follows:
$129 / night studio suites with 1 King or Queen bed, sometimes a sleeper
sofa, full kitchen, balcony, hairdryer, DVD,iron/ironing board,
refrigerator, microwave oven, alarm clock, stereo, cable TV and coffee
maker -- sleeps 2 adults. There appear to be about 12 of these units.
$144 / night 1 BR suites with king or 2 queen beds, sofa bed, galley
kitchen,iron/ironing board, hair dryer, refrigerator, microwave oven,
cable TV/DVD, alarm clock, coffee maker, desk and balcony -- sleeps 3
adults. There appear to be about 27 of these units.
$190 / night 2 BR suites with king or queen beds, living room, sofa bed,
full kitchen, balcony or patio, coffee maker, iron/ironing board, cable
TV/DVD, desk, alarm clock, stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave oven and
stereo -- sleeps 4 adults. There appear to be about 9 of these units.
Remember that hotel rooms are limited, so book as soon as you can.
Also, read the terms on the site -- as I understand it, the latest you
can cancel is 14 days before the event (which gives us time to deal with
any empty rooms), and the hotel looks like they charge the first night
up front, and the rest 14 days before the event -- which means you're
not paying less at check-out and lets you pick when you want to run the
initial charge. It's a little different, but this hotel is a LOT
different from the average hotel.
I figure if you're using a credit card and you're not waffling on going,
the difference is minor. It does mean that if you have to cancel your
reservation or switch it to someone else, it may be a little trickier.
Essentially, you do NOT want to book and then cancel. If these terms
aren't to your liking, there are several other hotels and other lodging
options in the area. Now that this is set up, I'll be contacting other
places for secondary and overflow lodging.

Tickets on sale!
Actually, this has been up for a while (and we've already sold 1
ticket!), but I wanted to announce it in conjunction with the hotel. You
can now buy early tickets using Paypal at the site! It's on the
main page -- enter your name and hit the button.
In line with past years, tickets are currently $65. We did some careful
alchemy and ran some advanced algorithms to come up with a price which
will pay for the event and not leave anyone in the hole. We don't yet
know if prices will go up at a future date, as they have in some past
years, but I always buy early, just in case.
If at all possible, if you have a paypal account, you can avoid us
losing money on fees by using money you already have in a paypal account
(which is a feisty 2.9% + 30 cents meaning we pay $2.19 in fees for
every ticket. Ow!).
If you need to buy tickets using some other payment method besides
Paypal, please contact me privately.

Accepting entries from bands, DJs, artists, vendors, designers, etc!
This has also been up for a while. The main page of the site has forms
for applying to play, DJ, vend, etc. We are even looking into bringing
back the Art Show, so there's a form for that as well. Spread the word!

A note on the website
If you go to the altgothic site, you won't see any ads.
convergence16.com also exists, but I haven't paid the $$$ to get the ads
off there, so for now, you may want to just go to the
http://www.altgothic.com/c16slc/.

I had no clue until you posted it here.
I have been waiting anxiously for the announcement.
`una - sadly, broke beyond the telling of it
Well, I was deliberately waiting to make the announcement until after
the hotel booking site was ready.

You and me both! Plus, the Wookie is buying a house, and we are really
pinching the pennies in anticipation until we can get mine ready to be
rented.

Is there any love for the idea of the art gallery? I have some spaces
in mind to book, but I don't want to get a large area and have only a
couple of pieces to show or vice versa, so I'm totally just fishing
for some numbers here.
Or perhaps I should do a new thread?
I'm incredibly excited about this and I hope others are, too!

New thread! New thread. Also on FB and LJ, since -- I am sorry to say
this -- we actually get a bit more response there.

I AM!
But you knew that already. ;)
