Mass-market liquor? It serves a purpose, but then so does Taco Bell. Who's
your favorite distillery? Pick any category- rum, gin, whisk(e)y, etc. I'll
nominate Prichards for bourbon and rum, both Anchor and St George for their
whiskeys and gins, and the Cooley distillery for Irish (Tyrconnel &
Redbreast). Oh, and McKensey makes some fine whiskey (Finger Lakes
distilling of NY; with some help I plowed through a whole bottle of it at C18)

Next?

Laphroaig and Ardbeg are two of my favourite whiskies, though I did once
get to try a dram of Bruichladdich 40-year-old. That was something to
behold.

Night Train and Southern Comfort.

I'm fortunate enough to live close enough to Great Lakes Distilery so
a lot of what I actually drink is theirs. I'm in their tasting room
usually weekly, and the bartenders are phenomenally creative. Willet's
been doing some nice, whiskey-ish things that appeal. And I'm a big fan
of Suntory's Yamazaki 12-year.

85. I will not use any plan in which the final step is horribly
complicated, e.g. "Align the 12 Stones of Power on the sacred altar
then activate the medallion at the moment of total eclipse."
Instead it will be more along the lines of "Push the button."

Have a bottle of the 10-year Laphroaig in the cellar, and the dregs of a
few other malts. I'm really fond of the Lagavulin. Who knew that
drinking some thing that taste of nothing so much as dry-rotting horse
tack would be so tasty?

Sounds -terrible-. The local winery has me fairly well dialed-in, but I
don't often hit the local distillers (St George and Old World Spirits).

Second that on Willet's, I've got a couple bottles of their stuff.

FWIW, I just tried some Ragged Mountain rum (Berkshire Mtn Distillers,
Sheffield, MA) - amazing.

I read that as a couple bottles on their staff.

St George is local? You might be interested in
http://www.craftspiritscarnival.com/ then. Guy of Great Lakes
(undoubtedly with several cases of tasty hootch) will be there and I am
sad that I'm only in the area the week before. My timing for that trip
is horrible.

About 2.7 miles according to google. :)

Mine, too, I'll be on the east coast that weekend. We'll see what the state
stores there have.

Stuck on a dry campus that doesn't want me drinking on it. Living in
the "health and wellness" dorm by sheer dumb luck, so no coming back
drunk to it like I could with other dorms. Came-in without enough
drinking experience to actually answer your question.

If you need help and have a couch, I haven't firmed my plans of what to
do with my school breaks.

-TenshiKurai9, college tried to put me in a single room for an extra
$1,000/month. Said no and got assigned a different room on the same day
I arrived.

Following up on my own (old) post:

http://www.railean.com/
"The RAILEAN Distillery is located in a sleepy little town along the shores
of Galveston Bay in San Leon, Texas. Affectionately referred to as a "small
drinking community with a large fishing problem" in reference to the
numerous dive bars dotting the Galveston Bay landscape, this small city once
served as a stronghold for the infamous pirate Jean Lafitte. The area is
also home to a thriving population of wild parrots called Monk Parakeets,
which is the official RAILEAN mascot."

They make rum and blue agave liquor. I'm sure some will appear at
convergence, assuming there's a decent store nearby.

Too bad its some 200+ miles from Austin, otherwise sounds I'd think a field trip should be in order.
My hometown is actually the "headquarters" of the American Distilling Institute. Not far from there is St. George, and their fantastic rum

Definitely, but the stuff should be available in Austin.

What, Hayward? St George is rather close to me.

No, silly, on land. Maybe 4-5' above mean high tide (my gps isn't more
accurate).
