Hm... He did hang himself... Don't know what songs he had or hadn't listened
to tho :)

As I've understood it, it was basically inability to cope with his
epilepsy (sp?) that made him do it...

There was a rumor that Ian tied a rope around his neck, stood on a block
of ice and waited for it to melt. But I don't believe it. All the books
I have do this thing about `respecting his and the band's privacy,' so
don't give any details. I also heard that it was a combo of prescription
drugs and alcohol. More believable, if not as dramatic.
And don't forget that the 14th anniversary of JD's last concert is May 2
(Monday?) and the 14th of Ian's death is May 15 (or is the 14th?--I don't
have my books with me.)

If I remember correctly, I think Ian Curtis hung himself by standing on a
block of ice with the noose around his neck, smoking pack after pack of
ciggarettes while he waited for the ice to melt.
I seem to recall hearing that he was listening to huis own music while he did
it, but I'm not sure.
Tres morbid.

What a crock of shit... he hung himself by climbing up on his mother's washing
machine tying the rope to the rafters and jumping...

And Tristen E Ontiveros<onti...@watnxt06.ucr.edu> spake unto the masses:

First he said this :

>he hung himself with a guitar string while standing on a block of dry ice.

And then he said this :

>alot of drugs before he jumped

So which was it? Did he stand on a block of ice, or did he jump? :)

I heard that he hung himself with a guitar string while standing on a block of
dry ice. It seems that alot of people were confused on how he hung himself
because there was nothing beneath him when they found him. He had also taken
alot of drugs before he jumped (maybe to make sure that it worked the first
time). Pretty ingenious, huh? Beats blowing out your brains with a gun.

I hardly believe that suicide is ingenious, some are more stupid than
others.
Doesn't it not take a long time for dry ice to melt? How could he changed
the channels to watch something else than Herzog's movie.

Well, he still could not change the channels (after jumping off
the block) with the rope around his neck. It seems quite
complicated. I think he should have skipped the whole suicide
thing and watch his family grow.
(somebody had previously mentioned that he would have quit JD due to
his illness anyway and open a record shop.)

In regards to the location, it seems to have been the kitchen. Mark
Johnson's
book mentions jokes by the inner circle that when asked (by an outsider)
where the singer
was, the reply was "he's hanging around the kitchen."

Do they make big closets in the kitchens? So it may not have been inside
the
kitchen. Can somebody get the Fletcher lady from Muder, She Wrote on this?
