...I am so excited about New Year's Eve! We are planning on staying
at home and having an open house so that friends can drop by
throughout the evening. We will have snacks, 2 cakes, and lots of
cookies. We will be either cooking or ordering Chinese food for an
early dinner, depending on our guests RSVPS. During the evening, we
will be watching a few old movies and a series of yet to be announced
movies chosen by my DH. One year it was Stanley Kubrick movies,
another year it was TLOTR, Star Trek - who knows what it will be this
year? Only my DH, and he refuses to tell!
...I have a gorgeous outfit to wear: lovely black velvet slacks with
a black velvet and lace top! The outfit is more modern than what I
usually wear, but still Victorian, too. I love it! I don't really
have the right shoes because I still need to wear sneakers or flats.
(Arghhhh!) I don't usually wear slacks to parties, but these are
beautiful and very comfortable. If the weather is too chilly for that
outfit, I have another pair of warmer green corduroy slacks that I
could wear with a turtleneck and a green sweater that looks like it is
moldy. I know it sounds strange. The sweater isn't actually moldy,
it just is made out of oddly coloured wool. The sweater was a pressie
from of all people, my mother. (She usually tries to get me to avoid
my Gothic tendencies!) I was very surprised, but pleased!
...Does anyone else have any holiday plans?

Maybe I'm too old, or too tired
This time I'll stay home, watching tv, having a little (really a little) of
champagne right at midnight, then going to bed at 00.05 :D

We haven't gone anywhere in years. No one would drive out here if we had a
party, and no one we know is having one. One year we went to the movies just
to not be in the house alone!

Maybe Colin will decide to have a movie night or something; problem is, my
husband doesn't like to be on the road on NYE, especially when it's icy.

It'll probably be another NYE of just us, a bottle of champagne, Tim
watching TV and me reading a book. But I'll dress up!

...Sometimes, it is best to just stay at home for New Year's Eve. We
have people come to our house because my DH prefers not to be on the
roads on that holiday. It is also becoming more difficult for me to
travel, particularly in inclement weather. We provide crash space for
friends and encourage them to leave early or to spend the night. It
is a good idea to be careful. Happy New Year to you all!
