GUESS I'm Not Goth ??: Advice Needed !!

A distant voice from the Darkness requests Gothic wisdom,
At a club last night some little kid posing as a Gothic elitist had the
nerve to tell me that my black GUESS jeans "Aren't Gothic" !!
At first I was tempted to rip his throat out and prove him wrong, then
I thought.......Maybe he is right ???
I usually don't get to hung up on purposely portraying my dark side,
I am goth to myself..... which is all that really matters. But I can
see how I might be confused with someone from B.H. 90210 (at least
from the waist down).
If GUESS aren't gothic I think I have to also rule out Levis and Calvin
Kliens. As such, I pose the question ---- "What black denim is a tight
butt Goth Guy to wear ???" Appreciate any advice (or flaming if so
justified).
(By the way, I ripped the little kids' throat out anyway. Oh....,how
the young ones are so much tastier).

It's not even that much of a matter of choice if you're hard to fit. I'm
perfectly capable of making my own jeans, but they're such boring
utilitarian garments that I don't find it to be worth my time when I
*could* be sewing something *fun*. So I've paid a fair bit of money for
a couple of pairs of Calvin Klein jeans -- not because I'm fond of of the
line, but because after lots of unpleasant jeans-shopping expeditions
I found these to be the only ones that made black boot-cut jeans that
actually FIT me. *grumblesnarf*

Maybe that's my one benefit of living in an area with such a small goth
population. I don't have to deal with the lil 'gother-than-thou'
bastards. I only have to deal with NoPulse23 ... and I actually enjoy
our conversations (even if she is a lil 'gother-than-thou')

okay now here's the real question? What black denim is a not-so-tight
butt Goth guy to wear ??? answer: Anything he damn well feels like
because any toy-boy who tries to tell him it's not goth to wear faded
ripped jeans on occassion will learn how their PVC pants taste since
they've just been turned into a pretzel!

maybe it's just me, but i've found that the black jeans never get as
comfy as the blue jeans. i always figured it was a dye thing, but for
some strange reason, i've never had a pair of black jeans feel as good as
a pair of blue jeans.

I sometimes wear blue jeans....what's the big deal? Yes, mostly to work,
but sometimes out dancing when I don't feel like getting all decked out.
I have a pair that is very light that contrasts with my black shirt and
tuck in beautifully to my knee high boots. Or even my combat boots half
laced. There's just something....comforting...about that one pair of blue
jeans that you've had forever and are broken in and faded just right. I also
sometimes like to wear blue jeans with my black velvet blazer. I like
the clash between elegant and, well, not.

I think it depends on the person. I have a friend whose
girlfriend wears black T-shirts and jeans: she's very young,
and just looks a bit awkward in them, not gothy at all. But
I have another friend who wears dark blue jeans, straight
cut, with black Tshirts (he tends to staple the seams under
the sleeves to get a more stovepiped fit), and looks divine in
them. I guess it depends on how you wear them, and what
you wear them with. I don't wear jeans anymore because
all of my pairs are too small (they are from when I was your
typical highschool nervous wreck who doesn't eat enough),
and I find that I prefer khaki-style pants. A lot of people are
down on chinos, and I admit that I have mine (2 beige, 1navy,
1 black) as work clothes, but you can in a pinch wear chinos
with docs and a black tshirt and not look too uptight. Anyhow,
I'm slender but curvy and I don't find jeans comfortable (fit in
the leg, too small in the butt, ok? :), but I do find chinos in
all sorts of colours comfortable. I would wear jeans again if I
could only find some that fit... :) (help, persephone, help!)

I was having a discussion with my SO about this the other day. As for
jeans, I find them great for working around the house, projects, etc. It's
the whole "I'm not leaving my house today, but I want to feel dressed, and
a skirt would get in the way" thing. The color is somwhat irelevant
compared to the fit.
As for pants, men, fashion: I must admit it. I dig the whole
chinos-sweater thing. But it must be done correctly. First, prefferable by
someone who is not american. Second, prefferably v-neck sold print
sweaters. I find the look very elegant, and very comfortable. Very
anti-fashion, if you will.

Just wanna say, if you really want to get back into jeans, try many
different brands... each brand cuts their jeans differently, and many
(such as Lee, which I wear) have different lines as well... Being tall
and thin, I have/had a hard time finding the right jeans, but there is
one line of Lee jeans which fits me well (nothing loose, top to
bottom).... anyhow, look around, and good luck! :-)
