Two Haircolor Questions...

Got 2 questions, one's kinda complicated.
My girlfriend has dyed her hair once every month for the last 5 or 6 months,
and has had one major color correction done. Right now, she has sort of dark
red hair, and almost black-purple ends. She told me yestarday that she
wanted me to get her hair to a light golden brown, of course which I'd have
to bleach the rest of the color out to get it the color she wants. Any
advice on this? Which products should I use? How should I apply the
bleach and colorant?
My 2nd question. Back in novenber I had blinde highlights put in my hair.
Mid-december I did a sort of tint-back to my naturally light brown hair.
The highlights came out red, not brown, but I figured it would work. The
rest of my hair had this red tint to it as well. The day after I did the
tint back, I used L'Oreal's Chocolate Cherry to get it to a burgundy color.
The intensive conditioner is my best friend now a-days. Waited about a
month, then went back out and bought Feria's French Roast, which is a golden
brown. Needless to say it didn't change my haircolor much. Got it cut, and
had a salon-type conditioning done. Hair feels pretty damn good right now
actually. Right now, I want to go to a medium-/dark brown color. My hair
color right now is a reddish purple brown color. I don't want anything
permanent. Something between 8-24 washes that I can find in the Target or
Sally's. How can I achieve this brown color I want? DO I need to bleach?
Going to Sally's/Target this weekend, so I will need some advice. Thanx.:)
