Well , the big day had come and my heart thumped with joy as if meeting Prince
Charming rather than rejoining my mouth for good and for always at the
hospital. I was wheeled in as no one seemed to have the 200 years if would take
for me hugging a wall , inching step by step , to made the trek to the area of
the office. Some excitement was sensed within the office itself as all had been
such a disaster from the word go and now would be partially set right. Make
that left. The soap opera cast type Doctor handed the first precious row of
blinding , sparkling white pearls to me so that I could claim the honour of
crowning myself " toothed ". Oddly the bottom seemed to be free floating . Then
came the hell of the top. It seemed a bit large and also free floating. The
doctor with hope in his heart asked how they were as I faced him with gums, a
set of gleaming teeth and gums again. Horror crossed his face as he began to
manuever the frisbee sized pieces. Once in , horror changed to open laughter
bringing doctors, nurses and even the secretary to laugh and laugh and laugh.
The Doctor had said " move the midline a hair to the left " . The lab had put
the two top front teeth past the midline on the left side as if the top of my
mouth spoke to the left of all things while the bottom spoke " right on ! " .

looking forward . And so week after week of fitting had realised two front
teeth on the left side of my mouth as I turned to a resident who follows the
doc's every move and said " Call me Sideway Face and get Dick Tracy ". By now
laughter pealed through the room, the doc threw down his protective mask and
said we will start again from scratch but I can keep these , Whoopee ! Oh pray
keep Prince Charming from arriving before new construction can begin or at
least let him be sensitive as well as walleyed .

Patricia,
You are an incredibly good sport! (At least you'll have a spare set
of teeth,but the spare set should be perfect.) I hope they can get it
right,and as long as they are fabricating teeth for you,they might as
well be gorgeous ones. It has taken a long time it seems. I hope they
are attractive and of course functional,etc.
This is to cheer you up: I told my husband I was looking forward
to seeing the opening of the Winter Olympics in Japan,and I showed him
how I had circled the television listing. I thought this would be
something cheerful and hopefully spectacular we could see together,you
know,a special moment. So he says,ok,he'll watch the opening of the
winter olympics tonight at 8pm. We agree to see it,then I found out
the Olympics opened last night (Fri.) not tonight (Sat.) So we missed it.

too many commercials - and the Japanese really didn't get into
it - no real excitement from the crowd when midori ito lit
the flame --
And - if you have to ask who Midori Ito is .....
first woman skater to do a triple axle - considered one of Japan's
most important athletes - and failed to win a Gold Medal
in 1992 - she fell second behind Kristi Yamaguchi of the USA
