Chennai was the place as the Royal Marines Band played while the Queen and
her Duke said goodbye to India for what was being said realistically would
be their last visit . The Royal Marines Band was playing their final gig
overseas. It was a reception serving drinks and canapes on the lawn for VIP
Indian and ex-patriots under the broiling sun with humidity index stuck at
92 % . The band now ends as the Royal Yacht is retired but were able to
strike up a rousing yet mournful " God Save the Queen". Queen Elizabeth
wore pink as she knocked off her last engagement of the tour opening a
Chennai Cheshire Home for the physically handicapped opening a
physiotherapy room. Prince Philip took the heat well and kept his own final
engagement meeting British companies still thriving in India and and
visiting the first British oil company to have developed an off-shore field
in India. It was considered by the Palace as a win for the royals and and
blot on the copybook of the politicians as flubs and snubs marked the visit
with London and New Delhi agreeing to disagree on several subjects. And so
it is on to Windsor for some cool relaxation .
