The Royal Society for the Arts today declared itself "delighted" as they were
expected to do when unveiling the new official portrait of the Queen which
shows the monarch's head floating above her shoulders. This time round the
Queen's face is recognizable and not yellow or green with unattractive hands
and nails in need of a scrubbing as in past portraits but unfortunately
disconnected from the rest of her body. Her head goes uncrowned ( a Freudian
slip of the brush on behalf of the artist's politics ? )and unencumbered by
grand jewels or medals in the painting commissioned by the RSA to commemorate
50 years of the Queen's patronage. While these royal paintings come one more
hilarious than the last this one is described by the RSA as a "very
sympathetic" portrayal . The Palace had no comment but commentators who are
paid to comment say that this painting is indeed " the peoples" version of the
monarchy developed by the Palace since the death last year of Diana, Princess
of Wales who before her death saw a commissioned portrait of herself showing
sadly a much older ,embittered Diana with a yellow face filled with tension,
wrinkles and unhappiness , short greying hair but wearing a gown of the day.
Diana declared it wonderful as it was to be auctioned for the British Lung
Disease grouping and she wished it to make as much money as it possibly could.

This post bears enough of a resemblance to a story by Andrew Woodcock for PA
News for me to believe it must have been the unattributed source. However, the
re-wording and editorializing which have been worked into these cut-and-paste
stories lately not only render the posts virtually unintelligible, but do not
excuse the lack of attribution. The rule is that you must note your source
whether you quote verbatim or paraphrase. One should also note their sources in
instances when they are either completely re-wording or simply passing along
info (i.e.: "I just saw on CNN that it's snowing in Miami!")

Maybe the Queen might like to make the same sort of gesture by
auctioning the painting for The Child Psychotherapy Trust as no doubt
her grandchildren will be needing their services in the future!

As the Queen is under pressure to slim down the
size of her royal family and put them on pensions from her own fortune
subsidizing their retirement from public footing the monthly bill for the
Michael's , the Gloucesters and the Kents pouring out their hearts to
fashionable psychiatrists on plush but very expensive couches all over London.
Perhaps Lord Linley could bag the sales of ornate wood carvings topped with
soft puffy leather pillows set upon couches to those practicing medicine in the
discipline of therapies of all sorts for former public royals .

These branches of the RF do not receive any moneys under the Civil
List.

It is interesting that you can describe psychiatric couches so
closely.

And who said that they did ? They maintain homes in Kensington
Palace . They are expected to go quietly from Kensington Palace in the future
and then be subsidized by the Queen for their new humble abodes.

I based the model ( Lord Linley you may have my design and
idea ) on couches of the " gods " in my attorney's office after he hit the high
point of mid-life, moved to the penthouse suite of his skyscraping building of
other lawyers , which included a full kitchen suite with some excellent choices
of port , brandy and champagne for those waiting to see him, a bedroom suite
and lovely powder room and shower, fab gigantic conference room lined with law
books, a collection of ancient books, huge actual work office and modern art
everywhere the pinacle of his career while smoking two packs of cigarettes a
day and wearing the smoker quitting " medication " patch on his neck after two
balloon surgeries who we saw one Sunday morning up so quietly high above the
city within an actual cloud and then he was found dead in his bed at home the
next morning. Cigarettes are bad news .

You did. Do you ever read your own posts, Ms Clueless? See your post
above and the words "subsidizing their retirement from public footing
the monthly bill for the Michael's , the Gloucesters and the Kents..."

The public does NOT foot their bills.

Don't you pay your rent or mortgage payment once per month ?

If you are referring to the grace-and-favour apartments, the subsidies
are paid for by the Queen, not Parliament.

As the slow shift to emptying Kensington Palace begins these
families will need to be retired and will not be part of the slim royal family.
Thus the Queen will have to subsidize their individual homes of choice as they
will no longer all be in one building sharing , security , utility , and
maintainence costs. Each fam will have their own bills needing to be paid and
paid by the Queen . Things are going to sadly change for the orbiting royals of
the British royal family who have always had the Queen to care for them and
their families.

So Patrica first said the public subsidizes them, and now she agrees
they don't after her scurrilous error.

Nick I said the Queen " will have to subsidize them in
retirement ". The Queen does not own Kensington Palace , Nick.

It was my understanding that she was already paying the minor royals.
Don't they pay rent out of that money?

Where is the verb in that sentence?

Does anyone know if and where Lord Linley's work might be found here in the US?
Galleries on the East Coast perchance?

The 27 year old artist ,Justin Mortimer answered critics saying ," it's "just
what the monarchy needs to make it more modern" and feels that the Queen should
be flattered by his effort commissioned by the Royal Society of Arts. "It's
fresh, it's funky and it's just what the Queen needs to make the monarchy more
modern. It will push them forward and will put aside a terrible year."

Not so new a piece of info but the word has it that eventually to
assume the new and supposedly wanted slimline royal family , and one assumes
this means the ( God forbid ) death of Princess Alice will take place first ,
that those royal family members now living in Kensington Palace will slowly
move away into retirement with the Queen paying for their new homes with the
exception of Princess Margaret who will move to St.James Palace . Then
Kensington Palace might be turned into a gallery for part of the royal
collection to go on display featuring pieces never before seen by the public.

Mary - the royals are not leaving KP at this time -- over the next
decades -- the ROyal family will be a lot smaller - through attrition.
Right now Princess Margaret, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and
His mother, and Prince and Princess Michael live at KP -- the duke and duchess
of kent live in a grace and favor house on the KP estate. None of
these people will be replaced by their children in the royal family
because their children are not royal. Nor will their children be
entitled to homes at KP =so sometime in the future, there will be fewer
royal residents living at KP -- but they are not being kicked out --
