68 year old Lord Snowdon - former husband of Princess Margaret --
is the father of Jasper William Oliver Cable-Alexander, boron on
born on APril 30, 1998 to Melanie Cable-Alexander, features editor at
Country Life magazine. The infant carries his mother's surname, and no
father's name appears on the birth certificate. According to a report
in the Daily Mirror, Lord Snowdon and Melanie, 34, have been involved
in a year long relationship. The baby was born one month before
Lord and Lady Snowdon announced their separation after 18 years of
marriage. (They have a teenage daughter, Lady Frances, who was born less
than 9 months after their wedding).

"This is an extraordinary sensitive story for obvious reasons and Tony
is keen not to upset his wife and family any more than they already are
by discussing it in public,' said a family friend.

Lord Snowdon is the second ex-royal spouse to father a child out of wedlock.
Mark Phillips is the father of a daughter, Heather, who lives in New Zealand -
she was conceived during a one night stand, apparently, and while Mark
was still married to Princess Anne. Phillips, who also has an infant daughter,
Stephanie, by his second wife, has never publicly acknowleged Heather.

Mark Phillips may not acknowledge Heather Tonkin, but she looks remarkably
like his daughter Zara, and money has exchanged hands for her upkeep.
