What is it with these middle-aged women who suddenly find the need to remove
their clothes in public? Is this the equivalent of mid-life crisis males who
cavort around with women young enough to be their daughters? How pathetic!
sigh. Meredith is obsessed with informing everyone about her body. I swear,
I couldn't have seen more than 5 of those shows, only the first segment or
so, yet even I've noticed she's always on about the fact that she doesn't
wear knickers, always trying to show how open she is, how in touch with her
body, or something, talking about some body part of hers. She thinks she's
being provocative or "cool" or something, but she's just disgusting.
For someone who has achieved the success she has, she comes across as terribly
insecure. I don't watch the show often, and when I do watch it, usually I catch
only a few minutes of it. I did see it a few weeks ago, when Meredith was
talking about going to the parent-teacher night at her child's school, which is
in Westchester County, NY (I think). Anyway, I gather that the parents were
treated like students for part of the time, and actually had to answer some
math questions, etc. So, Meredith was bragging on the show about how well she
answered the questions and how smart she is. It wouldn't have been so bad if
she had just mentioned it and shut up, but she went on and on and on. I was
thinking, "OK, Meredith, are you trying to convince yourself or us?"
>Didn't I read somewhere (probably here) that Daryl Hannah is also going to

That one is already on newsstands and she doesn't look that bad ....
for a woman her age. :-)
Desparation is having Chynna from the WWF (Joanie Laurer) appear nude
in Playboy. TWICE!!!!! Ugh! I almost cancelled my
subscription after that.
There is a link to Daryl Hannah's Playboy pictures here. You have to go to the
bottom to find it or put Hannah in the search to find it.

I'm not surprised. MV is a really strange woman who has always looked like she
works hard to be this sexual, sexy 50 year old. It's really pathetic, b/c she's
anything but attractive. She's phony, like all the other bitches on that show.
Worst of all, she has 3 kids and they are all young. This is a pathetic bid for
attention.
Yep. ITA with all of the above. Also, she tries to come off like she can do
anything Madonna does. A month or so ago she kissed one of the guests hosts on
the show. Kissed her right on the mouth and it was a real stomach-turner. NOt
b/c it was 2 women, but b/c MV looked so desperate and utterly foolish.
I predict within the next year or two her marriage will fall apart, too. And
she'll have the lucky position of being the View group's single mom, blah blah
blah. Then it'll been one story after another about her getting back on the
dating scene, and that will lead to sex talk which is what she wants anyway.
Can't stand her.
She doesn't come across as all that smart. She comes across as needing to read
a teleprompter and have questions written ahead of time. I can't stand her
weird, phony smile. I find her very creepy.

her gastric bypass surgery.
Then we'll all need gastric bypass surgery. (that was too easy)

I remember a time when MV was actually a journalist, and a half-decent
one at that. It all started to go to ratshit for me the year she hosted
an Academy Awards broadcast and came off like a gushing teenager.
30 years ago you would have attacked these women for being immoral.
that argument didn't really work so now you use words such as
'desperate' or 'degrading. but the fact is that you're just being
prudish.
She acts like a woman who's caught her husband in an affair.
Or maybe lost a role because of her present image and needs to change it.
With View and Millionaire her only venues, whacha gonna do? Playboy!
Maybe they need to have a new centerfold magazine for all these
middle-aged stars trying to prove they still have it.
GROSS! And so unneccessary.

Nah, it's her looks too. I don't watch the show long enough to hear
what she has to say and I can't stand her.

You're not alone in this. I for one can't wait. I don't think it's going
to harm her image. I'm glad that Playboy still has an interest in real
woman who aren't 20 and peroxided to death and carrying around fake
breasts. But it's interesting to see the split about this pictorial
happening. Fans of newsbabes in general are very keen on it happening;
then there's this crowd.
She's certainly proud of her body and is a bit of an exhibitionist.
Back when she was on 60 Minutes, she created another scandal
by posing on some mag. She had a micro mini on with 6 inch stilletto heels.
Caused quite a stir and the people over at 60 Minutes were not amused.
This posing nude for Playboy is right up her ally.
Was she really? I always assumed she slept her way up.
Btw is there a record low for issue sales of Playboy?
I couldn't agree more with what you wrote! When a middle-aged woman
poses nude, it's "empowering"; when a young woman poses nude, she's
"degrading herself". ???
Anyhow, am I the only person who noticed Meredith's rather obvious eye
lift when she started on the View? She sure looked different from her
60 Minutes gig.

WHAT!!! I just checked my calender to see if it was April 1.
There is *nothing* sexy about Merideth Viera. Nothing. What in the world is
*Playboy* thinking never mind Merideth?

I agree - I think she is rather attracive for her age and I would love
to see what she has to offer.
My assumption was that this was a tongue-in-cheek comment. Didn't she
follow it with saying something about getting implants? Either way,
anyone know of a link where this is being officially reported?
...Playboy's desperation, I might add... ;)

Yes - I'm sure she's hideous and that's why Playboy chose her.

There's really nothing more pathetic than a middle age woman who so desperately needs to prove that she still has it. She didn't. She worked her way up and she *was* a good journalist.
Nobody has ever slept their way onto 60 Minutes and the reason she left
was because she insisted on taking time off to be with her children.
The "boys club" at 60 Minutes couldn't deal with it, so they got Lesley
Stahl the workaholic, whose family comes second, to take over.

I have no clue as to how smart she is, but I can tell you that she is not
phony. She is very real and very nice, and when one of the contestants on
"Millionaire" got sick from a case of nerves, she was very compassionate while
others were getting antsy.
You may or may not like her. That's your prerogative. But I didn't find her,
her smile, or anything else about her phony.

This is very good news indeed. She is an older babe. I like that. Get away
from the fake breast enhanced women of todays playboy which at times makes me
sick. She has a beautiful face and I would put her up there with Halle Berry.
I passed her in a hall at a hotel downtown Baltimore back in 1991 and wow I
feel in love. I'm telling you she was beautiful and well built. Give me her in
playboy anyday. Better than Carnie Wilson or Joanie Lauer.

substance to the comment.

What about Morley Safer?
I think there's plenty of newsbabe fans who can't wait. Most Hollywood sex
symbols are so tarted up now that its far most desirable to see a woman who's
attractive but not trying so damn hard all the time.
LOL. Or Andy Rooney.
Interesting. But to be fair, LS is over 60...do you think her child/ren
are raised yet?
Calvinwiggs wrote:

Oh c'mon, you cannot be for real.
Honest as I can be. I think she is so attractive and well kept. But is this
true or not?
Even worse was when she thought she could sing and did a number from
Cabaret.....OMG it was hideous...I was actually embarassed for her. She
rehearsed and rehearsed for weeks, then came the big recital and was all
made up like someone from the actual show and could not sing to save her
freakin' life. It was just dreadful. Then, of course, everyone told her
she was wonderful. They had Simon from AI on a couple of days later and
showed him the clip and he said 'no comment' ... which I thought again was
pathetic. He has no problem humiliating and squashing the dreams of kids,
but not a 50-something rich celebrity who asked for his opinion.

It's called an opinion. He's entitled to his - one which I agree with,
though I think Halle is hotter - and you're entitled to your own.
Neither one should be summarily condemned.

They already replied, more nicely than you did.
I didn't mean it as a criticism. Yes her child (I think she only has
one) is grown now, but I think it's fair to say that Lesley Stahl always
put work first--as women of that generation pretty much had to in order
to make it in that field.
Pamela Anderson?
It's not the older woman thing that disturbs me. It's that it's Meredith,
who thinks she's hot stuff, that makes me cringe. Another older woman,
maybe, but when I think of sexy, not-young women, I don't put Meredith
Vieira in that group.
And remember when she had that *extremely brief* appearance on a soap opera???
They made such a scream about that. Who the fuck CARED about her 30 second
cameo as a madam??? She's a terrible actress, too.

I don't think she will get the surgery. That would mean that Star would have to
admit that she has an eating disorder and that her weight is a serious issue.
Star will NEVER admit that anything is wrong with her. She'd rather sit there
with her huge cosmetic-soaked face, her huge thighs, and her huge ego and
pretend that she's sexy just the way she is.

Yeah, but an interview seems unlikely, especially in a magazine
increasingly trying to capture the hip young crowd. What would a 50 year
old woman have to offer them in words? But she still could offer them
something to see.
We'll know soon enough, I guess. The Feb. issue should be out by the end
of the year.
