Some work, some don't, some are downright sexy:

Joan Collins
Lara Parker
Nicole Kidman
Shelly Duval (not!)
Whoopi Goldberg

I know there's gotta be a lot more...

The most obvious overbite listed so far has been Beverly
DeAngelo.

I thought movie people spent fortunes making their teeth a
thing of beauty?

Does anyone else on here think she is the most gorgeous model to come along
in recent times?? Something about her makes her look so exotic, but I can't
figure it out. She kinda looks like Joaquin Phoenix actually, but it works.

I'm sure they do, but teeth move. I had braces and wore a retainer, but I
still have an overbite. My teeth were great, but they moved. They're not bad,
but I still notice the overbite.

I wonder if he was a dentalphobe (sp), as he certainly had the
bucks to fix his teeth and it would have made a world of
difference in his looks!

I thought of re-doing braces too, but I don't have the patience or the pain
tolerance. My teeth are still really straight, but I still have my overbite.
Does invisalign do anything for overbites or is it just to straighten?

No. Yes.

An over/underbite is not a teeth problem: it's a jaw and palate
problem.

Reconstructive surgery is the only "remedy".

Hey, enjoy your "self"! (I'm sure others do!)

How would one address buck teeth cosmetically? I wouldn't have the teeth out
based on them being bucked.

I believe part of the deal is women are considered more attractive if they
have very small jaws. Facial studies on the subject of what is considered
beautiful found that the women considered more attractive had jaws about the
size of an average 12yr.old girl.

Gives women that vulnerable look, think Michelle Pfifer.

The thing with overbite is that it's a skeletal malformation. The person
would pretty much have to have maxillofacial surgery to correct some of
these overbites.

Like Carol Burnett and her daughter.

It's just as well. Ever sit in a roomful of Jews? So many re-done noses you
start thinking you're in a stepford wives movie.

Naturally, many of these surgeries turn out better than others. It's so darn
phony and pathetic, you wish people could just accept and love what they
were born with.

Streisand didn't need to be "fixed".

And headgear at an early age, although I'm sure technology has come a
long way since my orthodontist boss retired in 1993.
Thumbsucking accounts for a lot of buck teeth - pushing bone against

Yep, I have an overbite and my ortho said that I would have to get my jaw
cracked open to fix it. I spent $3,000. to have my teeth straight (they are
now), but to compleat the whole thing I would need my jaw worked on.

retainer, and I hated the invisaline (although I still have them hanging

I started this thread b/c a male friend of mine always found overbites
very sexy. I don't have one (he still finds me sexy though, heh), but
my daughter does. She has otherwise perfect teeth - I wouldn't let
the DDS remove 4 molars when she was 13 just so she could look better.
She has a megawatt smile with an overbite - and her teeth look great.

Nothing wrong with overbites - unless the owner
of one annoys the hell outta me!

Don't most people have overbites? Almost everyone I know has one. They
don't have crooked teeth though. I have an overbite and straight teeth
(thank God), but I really don't think overbites are very noticeable when
compared with underbites. Look at Quentin Tarantino.
