I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are on Julia Roberts appearance
these days. Is the "Pretty Woman" aging well or are looks going to pot.
Let's talk about this. >>
Well, I've never liked her look. She has a big bright grin, and good cameras
and good makeup give her a very attractive glow, but other than that...
Her body is hideous. She's very, very knock-kneed, and her posture is weird,
too. Something strange about her back and ass. She's a mess.
>Is the "Pretty Woman" aging well or are looks going to pot. Let's talk about

I've never seen the appeal of JR.
I mean, I can see her as the Redhot
Mama of the bowling alley and every
guy is waiting line to date her. However,
to be a Movie Star.......... I just don't get it!

*beginning* to suck? haven't they always sucked?
I've long thought her looks and talent were overrated and underwhelming, and
she has more teeth than three Osmonds put together.

Because she doesn't use them much, I imagine.

I *totally* agree! He must have rubbed someone the wrong way not to have got any further with his career than he has. Awesome actor.

In a word? NO. She wasn't pretty to begin with and was downright homely in Oceans Eleven.

I was just thinking last night about Jay Leno and Jennifer Anniston's children---if they had any.
:O) Gloria
Mr Ed doesn't think she's hideous. He likes the way she trots <eg>

NO!
I was impressed with her in Mystic Pizza and Steel Magnolias. But
stardom definitely ruined her acting.

I dunno. The only things I've read were related to his hot temper. Gloria
Was his treatment of his ex-wife and Julias siding with her the reason Julia
and Eric don't talk to each other? or is it some other reason?
She's always looked like a dog to me. An actual dog -with those gooey eyes,
long hair, silly expression and that pronounced snout of hers. Look at the
promo poster for Sleeping with the Enemy. Not only does she look like a
dog, but an actual breed. I forget the name but they're tall and horse
like.
No one has larger nostrils than Nancy Kerrigan.
That's the official reason. I wouldn't put it past Eric if he did do all
those things.
He's talented. But he doesn't come across as a nice guy. He reminds me of
a talented version of Mickey Rourke.

Julia Roberts has the lips of a clown. Her lips have a swollen look to
them. They've been used and abused. Julia spends so much time during the
day mugging and baring her fangs for the camera and press people that by
the time she's ready to call it a day she ends up looking like Emmett
Kelly.

Is Julia Roberts aging well? absolutely not.
Julia Roberts has the lips of a clown. >>
And when Danny Moder finally does his number on her, she'll have the tears of a
clown, too.
Maybe she hums too much....
Which lips are we talking about here?
Ambrose
Agreed, she was much better as a plain ol' character actress than a star.
Nicolas Cage comes to mind in that way, too.
yeah, I don't know that I would complain about her "back and ass" (that
comment didn't come from the Prof, sorry I cut too much out) but I've been
soooo tired of her for a long time... all her characters seem to be the
same, and I'm so sick of that "RHAAA-HAHA" laugh of hers... and yeah,
Nicolas Cage is like that... not the laugh.. but so similar in all his
movies. haven't seen the new one but I hope it's better cuz for some reason,
i do like him..... julia? NOT...
Nic Coppola had the makings of a great character actor back when he was
doing stuff like Raising Arizona, Wild at Heart, Vampire's Kiss. The after
that Las Vegas drunk movie suddenly he was a star, and it ruined him. Now we
see him in predictable dreck like Gone in 60 Sec, Captain Corelli's Violin
and that It's A Wonderful Life clone he did a few years back.
I agree. I LOVED Cage in "Raising Arizona" and "Wild At Heart", and thought
he was brilliant in "Leaving Las Vegas". The only thing I have liked him in
since then is "Face/Off" as a villain.
His face is so bassett hound puppy sad that unless he has an edge he comes
off as sappy and boring.

Was that the one he did with Matthew Modine? He was good in that.

\Yeah; Modine was very good in it also. Intelligent filmmaking. Hard to
believe that movie's almost 20 years old.
It reminds me of Coppola's 2 S>E> Hinton film adaptations from that time,
The Outsiders and Rumblefish, that had some great performances from more
than a few then young up-and-coming stars:
RUMBLE FISH (director/writer: Francis Ford Coppola; screenwriter: original
story by S.E. Hinton; cinematographer: Stephen H. Burum; editor: Barry
Malkin; cast: Mickey Rourke (The Motorcycle Boy), Matt Dillon (Rusty James),
Diane Lane (Patty), Diana Scarwid (Cassandra), Dennis Hopper (Father),
Vincent Spano (Steve), Tom Wait (Benny), Nicholas Cage (Smokey), Larry
Fishburne (Midget); Runtime: 94; Zoetrope; 1983)
THE OUTSIDERS
Outsiders, The (1983)

Francis Ford Coppola (as Francis Coppola)

We just saw "Adaptation" tonight and liked it immensely! It's about 2 hours long with a very involved plot. Streep is amazing, as usual. Cage gets to use his whiney, basset hound face a lot and also plays his twin brother. Catch this movie!
Gloria
Definitely. Look at his performance in Raising Arizona, it's so
unaffected. Matthew McConaughy is another one who's been ruined by
the star maker machinery. These type of actors should stick with
indie character roles. But then where's the money in that ;\
Did you see MM in "13 Conversations about One Thing"? Definitely an indie
flick, and I thought it was great... of course, Alan Arkin helped that
tremendously, but I was impressed that Matthew would do such a small film.
He definitely still makes my radar go off, and cannot Wait to see him on SNL
tonight!

I love that movie!!!! It's so good!! Everyone in it is excellent, but MM was
the real surprise. I was impressed.
I loved that movie, forgot MM was in it! Definitely the kind of role
I meant they should stick with or at least in between raking in their
allotted millions. Loved Alan Arkin.
