Actor Robert Addie, best remembered as Sir Guy of Gisburne in the television
series Robin of Sherwood, has died. Mr Addie, who lived in Cirencester, lost a
battle against cancer on November 20 at Cheltenham General Hospital, aged 43.
He was diagnosed with the disease just three weeks earlier.
Born on February 10, 1960, he grew up in Sapperton, near Cirencester.
It was here that he learned to love horses and the game of polo. He left school
at 16 and travelled to Argentina to work on a ranch.
During his acting career, he has had parts in Red Dwarf, The Bill and Monarch
of the Glen.
In the 1990s he lived in America before returning to the stage in Cirencester.
He had been married three times and spent the last three years of his life with
partner Helen Lovitt whom, he met at a Robin of Sherwood convention in Bristol.
Helen, 30, said: "Robert was a popular figure.
"He enjoyed going to the pub to meet friends, walking our dog and playing golf.
"He was talented and very creative and people said he was the best young actor
in England at the time."
Mr Addie's funeral is at Cirencester's St John the Baptist Church in Market
Place on Friday at 2.15pm."

This happened last week. If you want details of the funeral:
Okay, didn't Robert Addie play Mordred in *Excalibur?* And didn't David
Hemmings, who also died last week, play Mordred in the film version of
*Camelot?*
I have no idea what this means, but it kinda jumped out at me.
okerry>so sad about Robert Addie - 43 is much too young to go --
