It was a reference to Joe What's-his-name, who was the head writer/story
consultant for the show, and several of the other writers were gay. LA Magazine
did a feature story a couple of years ago on the gay slant on sitcoms, claiming
that gays are pretty much running the sitcom market, and prominently featured
this gentleman.

On "Late Night" recently, David Letterman, in his monologue, joked about the
TV sitcom "Frasier," making a reference about gays. I know that three of the
four main characters on the show are gay in real life -- David Hyde Pierce,
Dan Butler and John Mahoney. Was he making reference to them, to the
gay-like situation of all these men living in the same household or to
something else?

Gay and curious.

I know Dan Butler is openly gay. From tabloid articles that I've read, I
presume David Hyde Pierce is gay. But I've never heard anything about John
Mahoney's sexual orientation. Is he he out of the closet?

Joe Keenan. He's also written some hysterical novels, if anyone's looking for
a fun read.

Seconded and thirded! BLUE HEAVEN and PUTTING ON THE RITZ are practically
the most hysterical books I've ever read! I reread one or the other at
least yearly.

Has anyone ever noticed the picture on Fraiser's refrigerator, it is a pic of a
nude guy from the rear.

I never noticed that, but I could see how putting a naked butt on the
