Michael Jordan's legacy in the world of basketball is one that will not
easily be matched or forgotten. His accomplishments have brought him
worldwide acclaim and unimaginable wealth. Even his parents have been
recognized for equipping Michael with great discipline and fierce
determination. His mother authored the book "Family First," a book
providing lessons on the principles of parenting.
But now another Jordan is coming forward to dispel what she calls the
myth about Michael Jordan and his family. Deloris Jordan, Michael
Jordan's oldest sister, says, "He's controlling, if he can't, if I don't
want to do what he wants me to do then he can't get to me, but he can
get to my child."
Deloris paints her dearly-loved brother as a man changed by the evils of
stardom, a manipulative, controlling figure she says who now rarely
finds time to visit his relatives, including his mother, who lives and
works in downtown Chicago.
More shocking is what Deloris Jordan says about their father, James, a
man so recognized that his murder stunned the nation. Deloris says, "My
father started molesting me when I was eight years old. He took my
virginity at age 11."
(picture on TV) This was Deloris when she was seven years old. She says
that's one year before she lost her innocence to her father: "I mean in
my life, I tried to figure out first of all what I did to warrant that
type of attention from my father. Did I say something or did I wear
something or what did I do to make him feel like it was all right to
take my life like that?"
At age 16, she says she finally told her mother, who is also named
Deloris, who tried to send her away to a girl's boarding school. The
younger Deloris instead married her boyfriend and left home. To this
day, she says she can still remember the words of her mother, blaming
her for what happened. Deloris says her mother claimed, "'You tried
everything you could to take my husband and you just couldn't get him.'
"My mother kind of makes it kind of hard because she's...I'm the other
woman, she's got that other woman syndrome."
Three times she says she tried to commit suicide. She says for years
she's tried to understand 'why her?' And then, her father was murdered.
Deloris says, "Any answers I ever hoped to get are gone." She says under
considerable pressure from her family, she has kept quiet for years. So
why go public now? Deloris says, "If I'm trying to heal from it, it
makes no sense to heal in private and step out and lie about."
Deloris says she's not trying to hurt Michael Jordan and she does not
believe her superstar brother knew at the time she was allegedly being
abused. But she says he is angry now that she's talking about this, even
going so far as to cut her daughter's college tuition payments: "I hate
the fact that Michael has taken out his anger on her. I would have liked
to have thought that he was bigger than that."
A spokesperson said Michael Jordan would have no comment on our report.
A publicist said Deloris Jordan, the mother, was "not interested in
participating in the story."
Deloris is now writing a book about her alleged sexual abuse and life as
a Jordan. She hopes her story will show that if a great icon like
Michael Jordan is not beyond a dysfunctional family, no one is: "At the
time, my pain was so deep, I just wanted to get out. But now, having
come through those dark days, I'm so grateful now to have the
opportunity to use my pain to help someone else."
Deloris Jordan is planning to use her name to champion the struggle
against child sexual abuse. She is also asking anyone who would like to
share their own experiences with her to write her at this address:

Alice (handing cards to Dilbert): "Here--I've got a card for
Jennifer's wedding, a congratulations card for Mike's baby, three
birthdays, and a gender-change operation card that says 'Get Well...'
and then on the inside it says '...hung.' Cute!"

Well, duhhh...this is what the article said:

Where does it say that it's completed? Where does it say it's been
bought by a publisher?
