Recording Star Bonnie Raitt to Divorce

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) -
Recording star Bonnie Raitt and her husband of eight years, actor
Michael O'Keefe, plan to
divorce, her music label
announced Tuesday.

``After several months of
separation, Bonnie Raitt and Michael O'Keefe have agreed to go their
separate ways and are
divorcing,'' said a terse
statement from Capitol Records. ``No further information will be available.''

Raitt, 50, and O'Keefe, 44,
whose credits include the films ''The Great Santini'' and ``Caddyshack''
and the hit TV series
''Roseanne'' (as John
Goodman's friend, Fred), were married in April 1991.

In the spring of 1998, Raitt
released ``Fundamental,'' her first album of new material in four years.
Her 1989 album, ''Nick of
Time,'' sold more than 14
million copies and earned eight Grammy Awards.

I wonder what happened. I really thought their marriage would last.

I just heard from a friend of mine that he had been hitting on her
lately. Wondered if he was a hound or the marriage was in trouble.

A friend of mine did some work as an extra on some TV show he was in that
was shot here in Boston. This was not long after he & Bonnie were
married, and my friend said he used to hit on all the young babes on the
set and that he was pretty pompous and arrogant. Poor Bonnie ... sounds
like the guy was a loser!

His claim to fame is being Bonnie's husband. He never seemed to be
much of an actor, more of a sitcom sidekick. The sitcom he was in,
besides Roseanne, didn't last that long. Has he ever done much of
anything else?

he was a very promising young actor and then his career just sort of stalled. i
loved him in "the great santini".

He won rave reviews for his role in "The
Great Santini." I don't have a reference book handy at the moment but I think
he
may have received either an Oscar or Golden Globe nomination. He also starred
in "The Slugger's Wife." I think somewhere along the line he thought he was
better suited to be a character actor. One thing
I wouldn't call him is a nobody.

Presently O'Keefe is receiving rave reviews for his stage role in "Sidemen" at
Kennedy Center in D.C. opposite Andrew McCarthy.

He's much more of a stage actor. I saw him several years ago in "A Few Good
Men" in the role Tom Cruise played in the movie. (I saw the play shortly
before they started filming the movie.) He was wonderful as the lead lawyer.

He was in the movies "The Great Santini" (a very good movie, btw) and
"Caddyshack". Those are the ones I can think of.
