TV Review: 'Tying the Knot'
Fri July 25, 2003 03:55 AM ET
By Marilyn Moss
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - All those who want to spend six
weeks watching television star Melissa Joan Hart ("Sabrina, the
Teenage Witch") plan her upcoming wedding to Mark Wilkerson, raise
your hands.

Take your finger off the remote and travel with Hart and Wilkerson
very slowly and painstakingly to Italy and to other points on the
globe so as to know every detail of the blessed event. This is reality
television at its somnambulant best, surely for those who have nothing
else to do.

The six-part series, "Tying the Knot: The Wedding of Melissa Joan
Hart," is unscripted. You have to want to watch a lot of the actress
and her fiance talking to the camera as if talking to themselves, and
frankly, that can be a trying experience as endless words flow and
thoughts tumble out in repetitive fashion.

Viewers who stay tuned are in for every minute of the wedding's
planning process. Travel with Hart as she chooses fabric for a wedding
gown, talks to caterers about the menu and walks in and out of an
Italian castle and villa to plan the party events.

There is, however, a treat at the end: the wedding itself -- after all
of those parties, of course. After six weeks, those still in tow
deserve what they get.

ABC Family)

I SO, SO DO NOT UNDERSTAND. Who in the world cares? I know there are
a lot of reality-tv buffs who love this kid of thing, no matter who
the couple is (I am not one of them, but anyhoo)...but Melissa Joan
Hart? Please! She was cute on Clarissa, I guess cute on Sabrina and
all....but why her?

I just can't figure out how a network sits there and decides that
letting some not so great actress brag about her fabulous wedding
plans is going to bring them these wonderful ratings.

Maybe somebody could explain this to me....things like this usually
don't bother me (I am more of a lurker around here anyway) but the
commercials for this really grate on my nerves :)
