I was wondering if anyone had any juicy gossip from there local t.v
personalities. It *seems* a lot of people on here are from some bigger cities
so other people may now the personality you're talking about. I live in
Cleveland and are local weatherman who is in his 70's got beat up by his wife
several months and was out of work for awhile. I also heard about some kind of
gay harrassment suit in I *believe* one of the local nyc stations.

It's news anchor Steve Bartlestein at WABC channel 7 in NYC.
http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/bios/bio_steve_bartelstein.html

ANCHOR CALLED 'NIGHTCRAWLER'
THE sexual harassment suit brought last week against WABC anchorman Steve
Bartelstein by a male co-worker didn't shock others at Ch. 7 who have marveled
at the broadcaster's behavior.
"He's a notorious nightcrawler," says one gay clubgoer, who used to recognize
Bartelstein in his baseball hat disguise. "He's been out there for a long
time."

Our source described the "not-quite-out" news hound's taste for edgy after-dark
venues as "very underground. He's much more into 11th Avenue than Eighth
Avenue, if you know what I mean. He's definitely looking for love in all the
wrong places."

Bartelstein is said to have had a long-term alliance with a hunky reporter at a
local station, a member of what he termed a "gay anchor clique."

Another former fling detailed how he was "lured" into Bartelstein's life and
urged: "Ask your nightlife denizens about Bartelstein and you'll get an earful
about his way with guys half his age."

Bartelstein's lawyer, Ronald P. Fischetti, said, "These types of stories don't
even deserve comment from my client."

As for his daytime hijinks, Bartelstein, a known joker, is infamous around the
newsroom for blinding co-workers with a laser pointer. (The lawsuit against him
states he shined the pointer in complainant Roderick McCollum's apartment.)

McCollum, a writer/producer for Ch. 7, claims in his lawsuit he was sexually
harassed and stalked by Bartelstein, who, he claims, also offered him drugs in
his office.

Bartelstein, who had a calendar of 'N Sync's Joey Fatone in his office, was
also known to run downstairs to the studio where "Live With Regis and Kelly" is
taped to have his photo snapped with celeb guests like Barry Manilow, annoying
the show's handlers and guests alike.

The guests he struck a pose with were mostly male. "He's not running down there
for Christina Aguilera, that's for sure," said a publicist familiar with the
green room.

Bartelstein, who declared McCollum's allegations as "outrageous" and
"shocking," is countersuing for defamation of character.

"These things
will destroy the human race:
politics without principle,
progress without compassion,
wealth without work,
learning without silence,
religion without fearlessness
and worship without awareness."

When living in Texas, I saw a local weatherman in a gay bar. It was a piano
bar and he was sitting on one of the stools around the piano, just a-
singin' his heart out.

Not so much a surprise to think that he could be gay. What did surprise me
(he always seemed like a tall, thin man on TV) was that he was normal height
and had an absolutely huge ass. Wide hips, big butt like they belonged on
someone 100 lbs. heavier. Like Wally Cox's top on Rosie O's bottom. (OK, no
snerking!)

Wasn't pretty. I guess it doesn't matter if you're only seen from the waist
up.

I'm not down on him for his appearance - it was just that the TV made such a
different impression of him.

I had my scanner set on search one day and picked up a conversation with
a guy that works at the Weather Channel----and his boyfriend. This was
10 years ago, when it was still LEGAL to get scanners modified. You
still can own them but if you want modifyable scanners, you have to go
to any radio-supply store in Canada.

ack! I think I know who this is! I'm in Texas, and we had a guy like that.
Perfectly regular looking guy. Then I saw him at the grocery store, and it
was like an SNL episode of the Widettes. Such a shock! Bob Koob was his name
(he's dead now)

I don't think any scandal can match the one that LA's NBC affiliate
now-fired weatherman, Christopher Nance generated. The tip of the
scandal:

"Popular Los Angeles weatherman Christopher Nance was fired shortly
before the new year after developing "a reputation for profane and
menacing off-air behavior, marked by sexual innuendo and violent
outbursts," reports Los Angeles magazine.

KNBC President and General Manager Paula Madison fired the station's
only African American weekday anchor over what Nance claimed in the Los
Angeles Times were unfounded allegations of sexual harassment involving
an intern.

In 1990, the Los Angeles City Council declared June 16 Christopher Nance
Day, in honor of his community service to young people. Nance's "Let's
Talk Weather" school program has been presented to more than 500,000
students, according to his bio.

But in a cover story, Los Angeles magazine writes of Nance:

"In an incident now legendary at the station, he once called a technical
director a 'cunt' in front of the morning crew, reducing her to tears.
He had the same effect on a well-known anchor, telling her 'fuck you' as
she sat at the news desk. On yet another occasion, he shouted down the
station's vice president預lso female要owing to 'shove my foot so far up
your ass you're going to taste shoe polish.' The most frightening
allegation involves a woman who became romantically involved with Nance
near the beginning of his NBC4 tenure, sometimes meeting him at the
station for their trysts. She later accused Nance of attacking her,
first with punches and kicks, then by squeezing his hands around her
neck. By portraying the woman as a deranged fan, Nance not only avoided
charges but won a temporary restraining order against her. At the time
she was so humiliated that she let the matter drop. But today, 12 years
later, she tells the same story. 'Christopher Nance tried to kill me,'
she says." http://www.maynardije.org/columns/dickprince/030113_prince/

Adding to the fun:

"WEATHERMAN'S WIFE SENTENCED TO BIG HOUSE
Nicholette Norma Nance, the wife of disgraced ex-KNBC weatherman
Christopher Nance, this week was sentenced to 30 months in federal
prison for swiping $3 million in telephone equipment from her employer,
Nestle USA in Glendale. Naughty Nicholette was recently featured in LA
Magazine's unflattering profile of her husband.

KABC has a story on her sentencing as did the News-Press, though it
failed to mention her husband."
http://www.laexaminer.com/mt/archives/week_2003_02_02.html

Google a bit more and even better tidbits are available. The LA Times
did an extensive piece on the scandal, along with other news outlets.
This guy, who was believed to be a closeted gay for years, was given
chance after chance, but ultimately the KNBC news management was
terrified of reprimanding him because they feared repercussions because
he was the only Black member of their on-air staff. His behavior became
so bad, they finally found some balls. Frankly, I resent the KNBC
management for being freekin' cowards. If the stories are true, and
apparently they had substantiated proof all along, he should have been
bounced long before they actually did it.

I still can't believe the dude was this lady-killer horn dog. I
could've sworn he was gay...

Bill Bonds, our local newscaster was caught several times DUI. His daughter was
killed by a drunk driver in the 80s. Even this tragedy couldn't stop his
drinking and driving. He was very popular when WXYZ dropped him from the
newscast 5 years ago. He now does commercials for Gardner White Furniture and
nothing else.

Roughly 14 years ago while in San Diego on business for a couple
weeks I thought one of the female reporters looked very familiar. I
found out why when I saw her and some of the other stations news
people doing a personal appearance at a mall. She was or had been a
guy I had been friends with several years before. Whatever doubts I
had were wiped away when she saw me and even under the makeup I could
see all the color drain from her face. I said hello, and much to her
obvious relief, didn't let on anything was wrong and just talked like
one old friend to another.
I have no idea what's happened to her since.

ROMAN: I tell you what I see when I look out there. I see the undeveloped resources of Minnesota, Northern Wisconsin, and Michigan. I see a syndicated development consortium exploiting over a billion and a half dollars in forest products. I see a paper mill and if the strategic metals are there, a mining operation. A greenbelt between the condos on the lake and a waste management facility focusing on the newest rage in toxic waste, medical refuse. Infected bandages, body parts, IV tubing, contaminated glassware, entrails, syringes, fluids, blood, low grade radioactive waste all safely contained sunken in the lake and sealed for centuries. Now I ask you what do you see?

CHET: I just see trees.

days, such things weren't mentioned by the local press.

The only recent scandal I can think of here is that Junior Seau(the
former Charger player, and now Miami Dolphin), started boffing one of
the local news gals Misha di Bono. It ended up that Mrs. Seau found
out, and Junior kicked the wife to the curb, and is now with Misha-who
moved to Miami with Junior.

Well, since he's been gone for over 20 years, i suppose i can name names.
It was in Albuquerque, New Mexico and his name was Stretch Scherrer (don't
recall his real first name, but he was called Stretch). My high school buddies
used to buy pot from him.
......I did a Google search and came up with the following quote from Bevis &
Butthead/King Of The Hill creator, Mike Judge, who also grew up in Albuquerque:
"There was a show in Albuquerque called Captain Billy," Judge recalls. "He was
a local guy and he'd show cartoons and you'd go there for your birthday and he
got shot because he was fooling around with someone else's wife. I remember my
mom trying to explain it to me. I was asking her, 'Why did he get shot?' And
she goes, 'Maybe he was just hugging her to say, "good job," and someone walked
in and saw it and shot him.' "

A guy I knew told me he went home with Russ once and in an off-hand

Russ seemed to be pretty high-strung. Cruised around Piedmont Park
