But the tough-guy actor angrily denied paying for sex sessions with British
adult-film star Charmaine Sinclair, who is also being investigated for her
possible role in the multimillion-dollar hooker ring in Paris.
De Niro, 54, made the revelations to French vice cops who grilled him for nine
hours last week, according to London's News of the World, which obtained copies
of the two sworn statements he made.
De Niro was hauled into police headquarters in Paris after his name was found
in an address book cops seized during their probe of soft-porn photographer
Jean-Pierre Bourgeois. Three women allegedly involved in the ring also
mentioned De Niro's name to cops, authorities said.
In the statements, De Niro admits he asked Bourgeois - awaiting trial on
charges he led the ring that rented out 40 high-class hookers - to help him
meet women.
De Niro says he was introduced to the lensman in the early '90s by former
tennis ace Wojtek Fibak of Poland who "told me that Bourgeois was a fashion
photographer and that he knew lots of beautiful girls.
"The first time Bourgeois showed me photos of girls, they were taken from mags
like Lui and Playboy. He said he could introduce me to them, in a friendly way,
without any notion of money.
"It is possible that I chose one of these girls. And it seems that Charmaine
Sinclair was the one.
"I said to ^Bourgeois_ that I was interested if he could introduce me to her. A
few weeks later ^he_ contacted me and said that Charmaine was with him in St.
Tropez."
De Niro said he flew to Nice and took a helicopter to St. Tropez. where he met
the porn star at Bourgeois' villa.
"I had sex with Charmaine in the villa. I left in the afternoon by helicopter,
then took the plane to Paris. There had been no money transaction," De Niro
told cops.
News of the World reported that a 24-year-old French model named Carmelle told
police she saw Bourgeois and Fibak with a cash-filled suitcase at the villa
while De Niro had sex with Charmaine.
But in the transcript, De Niro insists: "I never had any attache case full of
dollars the day I met Charmaine in St. Tropez."
The Post reported last year how Sinclair, star of some of Britain's hottest
X-rated videos, emerged to claim she had a steamy two-year affair with De Niro.
"He was attentive, very gentle and passionate. He left me totally satisfied ...
I know I'll never make love like that again," Charmaine said.
Charmaine said she saw De Niro off and on until 1995.
De Niro - now married to ex-model Grace Hightower and starring in the smash-hit
movie "Wag the Dog" - says Bourgeois introduced him to other women in Paris,
but said he never had sex with them.
The actor's lawyer has blasted French authorities for dragging De Niro into the
probe - launched after two teens said they were raped after being lured to
southern France and Paris with the promise of becoming models or actresses.
"It is evident ^De Niro_ has nothing to do with pimping or sexual violence,"
the lawyer said.
