MR. SHOWBIZ....

Tiffani-Amber Thiessen is taking her bad-girl attitude and surgically enhanced
figure to a new zip code. TV Guide reports that the resident vixen on Beverly
Hills 90210 is departing after this season. Amber-Thiessen, who arrived on the
scene soon after the noisy departure of Shannen Doherty, has given her notice
to producer Aaron Spelling. The mag says the only thing that could change her
mind is a hefty bump in her salary.

Is Beverly Hills 90210 bad girl Valerie Malone about to shuffle back to
Buffalo?

Maybe. The new issue of TV Guide, out today, reports that Val gal Tiffani-Amber
Thiessen has told series producer Aaron Spelling that she intends to bolt the
nearly zapped-out ZIP-code show at the end of this season. Only money (more of
it) might change Thiessen's mind, the magazine says.

A publicist for the 24-year-old actress disputed the TV Guide report Monday,
saying the ex-Saved by the Bell has made no decision regarding her future with
the primetime soap. When asked which way Thiessen was leaning (Stay?...Go?),
the spokesperson said: "I have no idea."

A 90210 publicist for Spelling Entertainment could not be reached for comment.

Cast changes are routine for the ensemble series. During its eight-year life,
it has sustained losses of stars Luke Perry, Shannen Doherty, Gabrielle
Carteris and Kathleen Robertson--not counting dozens of short-term wonders,
including Hillary Swank whose newcomer character Carly is already being written
off. While no longer the pop-culture phenom that once incited mall riots, the
show is aging gracefully when compared to the free-falling Melrose Place, which
Fox execs have already threatened to cancel.

Thiessen joined the defining Fox show of the 1990s (at least the first half of
it) in 1994. Her pot-smoking, man-eating vixen character (said to be a cousin
of sanctimonious goody-goody Brandon Walsh) was designed to make fans forget
about nightclub-brawling, marriage-jinxed actress Shannen Doherty, who departed
the series at the end of Season No. 4.

Valerie Malone quickly wormed her way into the Brandon-Kelly-Dylan social scene
and mastered their ways: Sleep with anything and everything that moves. Among
Val's conquests: brooding surfer boy Dylan (Perry); geeky rap boy David
(real-life ex-boyfriend Brian Austin Green); abusive rocker boy Ray (Jamie
Walters); and artsy druggie Colin (Jason Wiles). Somehow, amid this whirlwind
of a schedule, Val managed to become co-owner of the Peach Pit, her clique's
Archie Andrews-esque hangout.

Prior to doing the bad-girl thing, Thiessen was a squeaky-clean Miss Junior
America who worst on-screen sin was co-starring with Pauly Shore in Son-in-Law
(her film debut).

That's the end, my friend. She was all they had left.
