NATIONAL EXCLUSIVE ENQUIRER INVESTIGATION

A new Internet site called Jail Babes bills itself as a "singles introduction
service" for women in prison, baiting men with pictures of beautiful girls and
promises of romance.

But an exclusive ENQUIRER investigation has uncovered a shocking world of
scams, misleading photographs and phony descriptions, all designed to con
lovesick men into sending letters, money and gifts.

While Jail Babes and similar "dating services" provide a little information
about the women, they do not tell their hopeful lovers what crimes they have
committed.

And The ENQUIRER found that many of the "ladies" Jail Babes advertises are
monsters in disguise.

• IRENE, 29, is described as a 5-foot-10, 156-pound artist who's due for
release next year and says she has "a great sense of humor." Was it her "sense
of humor" that led 5-foot- 9, 180-pound Irene Gordon to gun down A.D. Early,
62, in 1989 and rob him of $1,300? Any man who wants a date with Irene will
have to wait quite a while -- she's doing life.

• GEORGIA, 21, claims she's "friendly, curious, energetic and fun" and has
"high morals." High, indeed. Georgia Miller beat and stabbed to death Linda
Bonck, 18 -- who was crippled from cerebral palsy -- in 1992 and stuffed her
body into a well. She's in prison for life.

• MANDY, 23, a cute blonde, says she's an "honest, outspoken but sweet" person.
But Mandy Swafford brutally murdered Kendall Sue Parker, 22, in an armed
robbery in 1993 and will be in prison for the rest of her life.

• ROBYN says she's a "bubbly" widow but Robyn Kraholik-O'Bryon doesn't mention
she lured her husband to a Florida park where her boyfriend beat him to death
with a baseball bat. And LOUANN'S description says "Children: None" -- because
after she gave birth to a boy in 1990, Louann Wagner beat him to death with a
club, burned his body and stuffed the remains in a dumpster!

"This is outrageous! This service is profiting from crime," Gerald Arenberg,
spokesman for the National Association of Chiefs of Police, told The ENQUIRER.

"There is a real danger of blackmail -- using letters sent to the women to
demand cash under the threat of sending copies to wives, jobs or your kids'
school.

"They could have a nasty boyfriend on the outside who might show up and
burglarize your house.

"This endangers the public. We would like to see these places shut down!"

Ray Kleine, 62, began Jail Babes in April 1997 and already has 1,800 female
prisoners in 18 states listed on his service.

More than 2,000 men have contacted Kleine to find the addresses of the inmates
-- who are listed on Jail Babes only by their first names -- some requesting as
many as 50 women's addresses at $7 apiece.

Debbie Buchanan, spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Corrections, told
The ENQUIRER: "We do not recommend a stranger start corresponding with an
inmate.

"It is common for people to send money to an inmate who is not who she says she
is, or inmates who say they will be out in a month when their release date is
2010. It happens all the time.

"We highly recommend that people do not send money. And do not give out
personal information, like your home address, to an inmate -- especially if
there are children in your home."

The Jail Babes Web site states: "Do you know that there are hundreds of
beautiful ladies sitting in prison, just waiting for someone to love and care
about them?"

And one thing the "ladies" of Jail Babes all agree on -- every one says she is
"willing to relocate."

Wow, I just saw the story and went to the site. This is truly outrageous!
How can someone actually do this kind of thing and get away with it? and will
they continue to? I don't really feel sorry for the guys who write, there are
so many free women they can choose from. I mean, what are singles bars,
singles mixers, and personal ads for anyway? On the other hand, I hope these
lonely men find out about the deceptive practices of the "Jail Babes"
service, they may be putting their lives and their bank accounts at risk.
