Singer admits two year affair with Fiennes
by MATT BORN, Daily Mail

Another woman: Ralph Fiennes

It was said to be one of the most stable relationships in showbusiness.
Yesterday, however, the 11-year love affair between Ralph Fiennes and
Francesca Annis was in crisis after claims that the 43-year-old actor has
been having a fling with a younger woman.

Romanian singer Cornelia Crisan, 31, said that for the last two years she
has been having a passionate affair with The English Patient star.

She said the relationship began after Fiennes spotted her at a party at the
Dorchester Hotel in London.

She claims the actor is smitten - despite his regular public protestations
of love for Miss Annis, 62, the woman for whom he had left his wife of 12
years, actress Alex Kingston.

Plied her with champagne

He quickly persuaded Miss Crisan to meet him in one of the hotel's suites
where, having plied her with champagne, he then seduced her.

Over the following two years, Miss Crisan said, she met up with Fiennes more
than 30 times - including in a 'bolt hole' he had in London's East End, away
from the home he shared with Miss Annis in Hammersmith, West London.
Miss Crisan said the actor, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role as a
concentration camp commander in Schindler's List, regarded Miss Annis - 19
years his senior - as a maternal figure.

And the young singer suspected that Fiennes was also seeing another woman
during their affair.

'He was a cheat,' she told the Mail on Sunday. 'He used me to be there
always for him, whether he needed someone to talk to or wanted a cuddle or
to make love.

'As time went on I started to see more clearly, to realise that I didn't
want him at all.

'Playing hot and cold with a woman gave something to his ego. Knowing that
there was someone maybe crying for him, maybe suffering, made him feel
better about himself.'

Yesterday Fiennes was in Dublin, where he is due to appear in a play. His
spokesman refused to comment but it is understood that the actor will appear
on stage tonight as scheduled for the preview performance.

Meanwhile, at the £1million semidetached house he shares with Miss Annis,
the curtains were drawn and no one answered the door.

News of Fiennes's affair appears to explode the couple's reputation for
having a strong relationship - a reputation of which they have been fiercely
protective in the face of rumours to the contrary.

Fiennes recently threatened legal action after gossip columnists in New York
linked him to the actress Gina Gershon, star of the film Showgirls.

And four years ago, the actor was caught canoodling with Jennifer Lopez, his
co-star in Maid In Manhattan.

Fiennes and Miss Annis met when they starred together in Hamlet at the
Hackney Empire in 1995. Fiennes was in the title role while Miss Annis was
playing his mother Gertrude.

Both were involved in long-term relationships at the time - she with the
photographer Patrick Wiseman, father of her three children, while Fiennes
was married to Miss Kingston.

Pay attention, Francesca Annis. Pay very close attention. Your bubble
is about to burst.

You know, I used to be crazy about Fiennes. And I really liked him
married to Alex Kingston. But he went down several notches in my book
after the way he ended his marriage. I mean, there's a way to leave
your marriage without being an insensitive prick. After that whole mess
it was really hard to go on respecting him. It's not that I think
celebs should be morally pristine, but there are just SOME THINGS that
are pretty hard to grin and bear. Truly, I think he lost his mojo after
that, too. His acting has never quite had the fire it did back when he
was with Alex. Maybe he made the gods angry....

I am guessing he broke up with her if she is now going public? No?

And here's an article from the UK on the matter. The link will show a
picture of Crisan who is described as "busty" but she sure isn't
pretty. Yech.

http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/story_pages/showbiz/showbiz2.shtml

Another Fiennes mess!

By Holly Jarvis, Neville Thurlbeck & Neil McLeod

HOLLYWOOD actor Ralph Fiennes' ten-year relationship with actress
Francesca Annis was heading off the rails last night-after the News
of the World tracked down his secret mistress on a train to Scotland.

We can reveal the English Patient star has been cheating on loyal
Francesca, 61, for TWO YEARS with a Hungarian musician 30 years her
junior.

Our investigators interviewed busty Cornelia Crisan as she sat in First
Class on the 10.30 Flying Scotsman from King's Cross to
Edinburgh-fleeing London before the scandal of her affair with
Fiennes, 43, was about to break.

She is believed to have taped a phone call to the Hollywood star a week
last Thursday proving the relationship so she could sell the story.

Cornelia-who lives in a seedy flat in Roehampton, south-west
London-drew puzzled looks from fellow passengers as she tried to
shield her face under a woolly scarf, a large hat and a bag. One
passenger said: "Is that lady trying to hide from someone? I hadn't
noticed her until she put on that incredible disguise."

But Cornelia emerged from beneath her piles of wool to reveal she
expected Fiennes to deny her claims to protect 61-year-old Francesca.

She whispered: "I want to get away from all this for a while." When we
asked her if she had taped a romantic call to Fiennes, she said: "Yes."
And when we asked her to confirm her affair with the idol-who plays
Lord Voldemort in the latest Harry Potter-she also replied: "Yes".

The pair met in 2004 at London's Dorchester Hotel. A friend of Cornelia
said last night: "Ralph is besotted. At first she thought it was just a
bit of fun, but now they're very close. They try to meet whenever he is
in London."

The couple are said to have been sending saucy texts to each other.

The news will devastate Francesca. Despite an 18-year age gap, she has
had one of the most enduring relationships in showbiz with Ralph.

But cracks first appeared in 2002 when Fiennes was pictured canoodling
with Jennifer Lopez.

Posh Ralph-nominated for a Best Actor BAFTA for The Constant
Gardener-is in a play in Dublin. When we asked him about the affair
he refused to comment. Francesca told us: "Not now".

And am I the only one who thinks the UK paper is taking a dig at
BRITISH Fiennes by referring to him as "Hollywood actor"? He is
anything but a Hollywood actor. He has never, ever identified himself
with Hollywood, never lived in Hollywood, and had made just as many
movie *outside* of mainstream Hollywood as he has inside. He's done
tons of theatre in England and is RADA educated. So it seems a little
underhanded for a UK publication to call him a Hollywood actor.

And yeah, I bet he did dump that woman. I mean, she says they are close
and they see each other while in London but yet she's been taping their
calls and she's looking for buyers to sell her story to. Clearly, this
is "The End of the Affair", to coin one of Fiennes' movie titles.

It is probably a dig.
What was that part about him canoodling with Lopez? Ick. I thought he was
ashamed of the movie he made with her.

LOL, they were together for AGES. Atcually, the article did get it a
little wrong: they were together for 12 years but only married for the
last 2 of those years. Still, it was a long and strong relationship,
one in which he seemed very comfortable. Untill he met Annis. The whole
thing was pretty bad. According to Alex, Fiennes showed up on the set
where she was filming Moll Flanders and he was "all bright and breezy,
telling me he was in love with Francesca". He told her AT WORK. He
couldn't do it AT HOME? And he was "bright and breezy". Alex was hurt
very, very badly by the ordeal. Some years later she revealed that they
had tried for a long time to have children, too but she was just never
able. Also, that even after getting married again and having a child
she still couldn't watch Fiennes in a movie, "too hard to look at that
face". Annis, for her part, had been living with the father of her
three *young* children. When she and Fiennes decided to end their
respective partnerships, she LITERALLY threw Wiseman out of the house.
The father of her children. By all accounts he was also as devestated
as Alex had been. Fiennes and Annis behaved horribly and deserve
whatever fate is coming to them.

That is pretty cold.

I knew of Alex before Fiennes because I used to watch ER.

I believe Fiennes is a louse and cheat but I have always believed the
rumors about Lopez were complete fabrications b/c Lopez had a lot of
media attention at the time. One thing is for sure though, he visited
her on the set of that stupid video she made and can be seen in photos
watching her filming--she's wearing that ridiculous outfit of
short-shorts and platform heels while swinging a bat. I always thought
it was odd that he would associate with her AT ALL outside the set of
'Maid'. And I can't imagine anyone who trained at RADA, has *two* Oscar
noms, and is the only actor ever to win a Tony for playing Hamlet,
*wouldn't* be ashamed for making 'Maid in Manhattan'.

She got the part in ER shortly after the end of her marriage. She said
it was a godsend b/c it gave her a solid reason to get out of England
and it was a JOB that she could focus on. I like her a lot, always did.
She did movies in England before ER and never did Hollywood movies. She
was very much under the radar. You should rent her version of 'Moll
Flanders' done by the BBC's Masterpiece Theatre. My God, she ROCKED
that movie. She's a gorgeous woman, gorgeous crazy hair and a very
incredible body. I'm so glad she found happiness with her second
husband and finally was able to have a child.

He's been having affairs for years, I'm surprised he hasn't been caught
out before this. He's had a good run for his money. Annis stays with
him because she gets to go to the award cermonies that she likes to be
seen at. It's not the first time she's ditched her partner and kids,
she ran off to Hollywood with the actor who played the Saint on TV, Ian
Oglivy. She did the same beforethat as well, can't remember the actor's
name. She seems to have a thing for 'pretty boy' actors. Fiennes has
also been reported in the press as a regular visitor to The Brass Rail
& Zanzibar strip clubs in Toronto. If he's in a 'happy' relationship,
then why is he seeking solace in these strip joints??? His treatment of
this latest female doesn't sound very nice either. It reads as though
he's used her as a free prostitute service when the mood took him, very
nice. Alex Kingston must be thanking her lucky stars at her lucky
escape, at least she seems to be happy now. Wiseman must also be
feeling the same.
Leave Ralph & Francesca together, they deserve each other. Maybe
they'll get a idea of how much hurt & pain they caused their partners
in the past.

You reminded me of something I had forgotten: I did read that Annis had
once before ditched Wiseman for a younger man, then she went back to
Wiseman and he took her back. Sheesh. I agree with you that she and
Fiennes deserve each other. And look, she's 62 now. If things fall
apart with Fiennes she won't have the same luck with younger men that
she had 10 or more years ago....then again, you never know with some
people these days.

I aboslutely have always thought she has issues with aging and likes
younger men to make her feel young and sexy. Fiennes, for his part is
WELL known to have mother issues.

I too am happy for Alex.

LOL...he might be but it's hard to say b/c Alex had to use IVF for a
very long time with her second husband just to get the one child she
has.

But this reminds me of something funny: I remember when the thing with
Annie first broke, and he had moved in with her after she
unceremoniously kicked Wiseman to the curb....her *mother* spoke with a
reporter (she's must have been a naive old fart and didn't realize her
comments would end up in the paper, duh!) and was sying how she didn't
think the relationship between her daughter and Fiennes was a good idea
b/c for one thing "He's young and he would probably like to have
children but he won't be able to with Francesca". It was too funny.

I was a huge fan. And when he did that to his wife it really shocked
me. It was so unexpected. I followed the story but after it all died
down I never really cared what he said or did anymore. And there are a
number of movies he's done since that time that I still have not seen.
It bruised me. I know that probably sounds silly but I just DO NOT LIKE
philanderers. I probably will never see some of those movies b/c I just
have no interest. I actually only saw 'The Constant Gardner' b/c I was
with a friend. I thought it was a lousy, over-rated mess.

I don't think celebs are as bullet-proof as they think they are. I
think there is a lot of damage done to reputations over behavior like
this. The media and OTHER celebs can turn a blind eye and continue
kissing this person's ass as if nothing ever happened, but "middle

Ralph Fiennes and Francesca Annis are not married and haven't talked
about their relationship in the press the way the Pitt's and Cruise's
have. For all we know, they've had an open relationship all these
years. She used to be quite outspoken about her unconventional views on
relationships and marriage. She never married the father of her
children. She was the breadwinner while he stayed home with the kids.
As others have mentioned, she reportedly had affairs during their
relationship. He didn't talk about it to the press until she actually
left him. So, if this is in fact true, it may not have come as a much
of a surprise to Francesca.
