Tim Allen, who stars in the comedy action-adventure movie "Galaxy Quest,"
has purchased the Hollywood Hills home of actor Christian Slater for $2.2
million.
The former star of the hit ABC sitcom "Home Improvement" (1991-99), Allen
also co-starred with Tom Hanks as the voice of Buzz Lightyear, a toy astronaut,
in Disney's "Toy Story 2," the recently released sequel to the
computer-animated movie "Toy Story" (1995).
Allen, 46, and his wife of 15 years, Laura, separated in November. They
had been living together in the L.A. area.
Slater, 30, listed his Hollywood Hills home this fall. He has been
spending most of his time during the last year in New York.
The actor, who starred in the movies "Hard Rain" (1998) and "Very Bad
Things" (1998) after co-starring with Tom Cruise in "Interview With the
Vampire" (1994), recently finished filming "The Contender," also starring Joan
Allen, Jeff Bridges and Gary Oldman.
The Hollywood Hills home, which Slater had owned since 1993, has three
bedrooms in 5,500 square feet. Built in 1990 on slightly more than an acre, the
Mediterranean-style, walled and gated home also has a pool and city views.

Suzanne Somers, who co-hosts "Candid Camera" (CBS) and wrote the recently
published "365 Ways to Change Your Life" (Crown Publishers, $17.95), and her
husband, producer-manager Alan Hamel, have listed a Malibu cottage, which they
have used for offices, at $949,000.
Somers, 53, became a TV star on the ABC sitcom "Three's Company"
(1977-81). Since then, she also has co-starred in the TV sitcom "Step by Step"
and written seven books.
Built in 1975, the two-story house has one bedroom in 1,250 square feet.
It is on a sandy beach and has 42 feet of oceanfront.
The couple recently sold their longtime Marina del Rey home for $2 million
and bought a Malibu house with 90 feet of beachfront for $2 million-plus.

John Whitesell II--an Emmy-winning director of such hit TV series as the
latest "Cosby" show, "Roseanne" and "Coach"--and his wife, Jolie, have
purchased a Brentwood home for just under $3 million.
She is a script supervisor for "Friends." The couple was married in July.
Whitesell, also a producer with Carsey-Werner, has directed the new UPN
series "Grown Ups," starring Jaleel White, as well as the movie "Calendar Girl"
(1993), starring Jason Priestley.
The couple bought a newly built Craftsman-style home with six bedrooms and
six baths in more than 6,500 square feet. The gated estate has a guest house, a
library, pool and spa.
Whitesell, in his early 40s, sold his former home, behind gates in Pacific
Palisades, to his brother, Patrick, 34, a talent agent with Creative Artists
Agency who represents such actors as Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
The Palisades home, which sold for just under $2.5 million, has four
bedrooms in 3,500 square feet and is on more than an acre with views from the
mountains to downtown Los Angeles to Catalina Island.
Enzo Ricciardelli of Sotheby's International Real Estate in Brentwood
represented the Whitesells in buying the Brentwood home, which had been listed
by Jody Fine of Fred Sands Estates, Pacific Palisades. Ricciardelli had the
listing on the Palisades house.

The Beverly Glen home of the late Fred W. O'Green, chairman of Litton
Industries for much of the 1980s, has come on the market at $4.35 million.
O'Green, who died at 77 in late 1998, was the second chief executive in
Litton's history. He succeeded Charles B. "Tex" Thornton, who had co-founded
the firm with Roy Ash in 1953.
O'Green oversaw a massive restructuring of the company and has been
credited with the strong growth in Litton's defense electronics operations.
Built in 1940, his traditional-style 8,200-square-foot home has a
two-story library, a game room with a bar, a kitchen with a breakfast area and
a grand staircase leading to five bedrooms, including the master suite, which
has a fireplace.
The home also has a long, gated driveway and an acre plus in park-like
grounds with a pool and cabana, which has dressing rooms and a bath.
Michael Collins and Joe Babajian of Fred Sands Estates, Beverly Hills,
have the listing.

Mike Siegel, a nationally syndicated radio talk-show host, has purchased a
Studio City home for $625,000.
Siegel recently signed with Chateau Productions to make his film debut in
the title role of "The Barry Gray Story," based on the life of a talk-radio
pioneer during the '40s on radio station WMCA in New York City. Siegel's radio
show is broadcast weekdays on the Talk America Radio Networks, but not in the
Los Angeles area.
He bought a three-bedroom house once owned by veteran stage and screen
actor Monty Woolley, who died at 74 in 1963. Woolley, whose trademark was a
neatly trimmed white beard and mustache, probably was best known for his lead
in the Broadway production of "The Man Who Came to Dinner."
Siegel owns other homes in Washington state, New Hampshire and Wyoming.

lol... i live in nyc, so i was thinking wow, 1250 square feet and 42 feet of
beach for less than a million... not bad! (not that it's even remotely in my
price range..)

is located in Palo Alto, CA. It's nothing special -- corner lot, house is
about 3,000sf. The asking price on the house was $1.25 million (yes,
million). Two buyers wanted the house desperately and a bidding war ensued.
Bidding closed at $2.25 million. Yiiii!!!!!!! $2.25 million will buy you a
7,000sf home in Vegas with marble everything and a pool!
