There was this fellow by the name of Ahmet Ertegun
http://www.google.com/search?q=Ahmet+Ertegun&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
He pointed out an amazing, but totally true fact.
He said: "Black music became the music of the world. There's beautiful
music in Ireland. There's beautiful music in France, but there's only
one music that travels everywhere, and that is black American music."
Then they showed James Brown at his best.Doing it to Death! Dancing to
his "night train" song. :-))
You know folks, those of you who loved James Brown and the Famous
Flames as I do, there is something that puzzles me. After many
decades, I'm going to answer it here in hopes that I can get an answer
to this. If you all don't have it, maybe I will mosey on over to some
usenet group, or Yahoo forum where he is the focus of the group.
Anyway, I loved most of his songs, fast, or slow. Yet the two that
have always been my favorites are never heard on the radio or seen on
tv.
In my opinion, they are the best of the best when it comes to JB
rhythm.
The first one is titled:
"The Popcorn"
He doesn't do much singing here. His band is kicking it for 95% of
the song, but it will make you get up, grab your head, and holler
"good grief Charlie Brown"
The second one that I play at home several times a week and is just as
good if not better is titled:
Let A Man Come in and Do The Popcorn!!!
In my opinion these two are the best of the instrumental music that he
did.
What say you all?
Ireland has Enya, and many other singers with incredibly beautiful,
soothing, angelic voices, I listen to Enya several times a week when
I'm mentally and physically worn out, France has beautiful music.
Remember Jane B and Serge Gainsbourg, "J'taime ma non plus"
Spain has lovely music. Remember 101 strings and The Soul of Spain?

Every country on this planet almost has wonderful music.
America has C&W, Rock, dance, Trance, Rave, etc
However African American music Soul, Rap, Hiphop, Funk, R&B, Jazz are
the ONLY forms of music that have spanned the globe!
Anywhere you travel worldwide, you can find OUR music on jukeboxes,
and the radio.
No one else can correctly make a claim of that astounding magnitude.
People copy it every day, steal it, and try to make it their own under
false pretenses, but it remains uniquely ours! :-)
Folks...that is one of the things that makes me extremely proud to be
an African American.
Since ALL human life originated in Africa, making you part African as
well, you should also be extremely proud.
did you see that Russian brother and sister team juggling on Oprah
now? They are supposed to be the worlds greatest jugglers. They can
pass nine things back and forth at one time Today they did seven and
had Oprah stand in the middle. That was mind blowing. Those are the
kinds of white folks I can really admire. They are good because of
tremendous hard work, and have developed some uncanny skills.
Not like the sports start whom we love only to find out that they are
taking drugs to enhance their abilities, or people who have others do
their homework for four years of university, then they are awarded the
Bachelors degree. Capisce? Oprah has a very special show today. So
watch it if you can. She is having the best and brightest from all
over the world on her show. So far no black men though. I'm sure she
wouldn't snub us that way though. there are still thirteen minutes
left.

Here is where white people originated:

I noticed that Mary J Blige a much better singer than the dixie twits
lost to them. If this isn't racism then nothing is!
Though I'd hardly defend the Grammy's, none of the categories the Dixie
Chicks won in was for their vocal talent. If you want to hear vocal
histronics, watch American Idol.

Well, I didn't know much about either group as far as how they sing
until last night.
I don't care for Mary J. Blige. She seemed to hard, and to street for
me. I don't date women of any color with tattoos all over them. Plus
MJB reminded me of the hard cold hustling women I see around here. You
let them in your home for an hour, and they will steal everything they
can.
I did listen to her closely when she was singing alone, and I was
really impressed with the beauty of her voice. I now see why she is so
popular. Her voice says it all when she sings. Sensuality, pain,
power, soul, she certainly is quite a singer.
As for the Dixie Chicks, I just started watching them when MOST of
White Amerikkka ostracized them. I know from experience that when
White America hates someone so much, those are people to be listened
to because they are usually marching a few steps in front of the
masses. I.E. Minister Louis Farrakhan the most articulate, powerful
speaker the world has ever seen.
BTW, he is not feeling well now.So I want the world to send him some
powerful positive energy in hopes that he will feel it, and respond
positively to it. Why do I feel this way about him?
It doesn't matter whether you agree with everything he said, or not.
One thing that you can acknowledge... is the fact is that he is BOLD,
FEARLESS, UNINTIMIDATED, UNAFRAID, UNBOUGHT, AND UNBOSSED!
Black America needs some FREE black people today for our struggle. I
didn't say successful black people like some at the top of our
government. I mean FREE black people.
Being financially successful is wonder, but you are still un free if
you are still bought, sold, and afraid to speak out to whites in
power, when other black people are suffering.
To many of our ethnic groups are suffering because of White supremacy
and white male domination. Black people... we are not involved in a
game of sports with white folks. This is LIFE AND DEATH. Way to many
of our folks are suffering. Right now we are losing the game! We have
a lot of work to do. So let's do it!
So mote it be.

This is a pretty bold claim. "The most articulate, powerful
english-speaking speaker of our time" would be worth debating. Drop
"english-speaking" and you are on very shaky ground. Go into "all-time"
territory and Farrakhan looks like an ass-clown. People have made
revolutions by the sheer power of their speech. Farrakhan has, what?,
gotten a couple hundred thousands to walk through Washington, DC's
streets a few years ago? Big friggin' deal on a global scale! Get some
perspective my friend!

you are indeed a racist moron, but, that song kicks a metric buttload of
major ass. fantastic groove.
Listen, I'm no great judge of talent. But Mary J Blige has something
and the twits don't. Simple as that. Black people have never been
more successful as they are now. A black football coach just won the
Super Bowl. Barack Obamasama is running for President and faring
well. The NBA is 90% black. Coaches in the NBA are significantly
successful. More Blacks are serving in Congress. I could go on and
on. America needs Blacks just like we need Whites, Asians, Gays,
Hispanics and so many other cultures. It's what makes us great. If
all of us could concentrate on bettering ourselves and our country
we'd do even better. But it's tough melting everyone together because
we are different. It is hard looking past skin color for all of us.
But while reading the paper yesterday our local police busted 6 white
guys for crimes. You see every color does wrong. It's not just
Blacks or Whites. It's all of us. Unfortunately, we'll always see
color. This will never change no matter how hard we work at it.
That's the depressing part of it all.

How many of the chicks are black? How many blacks actually work for them,
or bought their music? Oh yeah, they're the music of your people!
they'd probably despise you. For any number of good reasons.
