It was a Frenchman (red rag to a bull?) who said "I may disagree with
what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
I was under the impression that America stands for freedom of speech,
and freedom of assembly, and the right to express dissent and unpopular
opinions.
If that no longer applies, then could you cite a reliable source, and
then explain just what it is the US does stand for?
And you were wrong.
It no longer applies? Oprah is expressing her opinion as is Ron. By whom and
where have either been denied their first ammendment rights?

This always cracks me up...defending someone who would seem to be forgetting
the first amendment by citing the first amendment. I think the point is that
Ron would happily deny Oprah her first amendment rights.

Oprah has the right to be tacky and phony.
Hours away from war, instead of doing a nice little show supporting American
troops...she basically turned over the floor to a couple of anti-American
jerks.
She praised Michael Moore and played a clip of his that was horribly inaccurate
and extremely biased. It was really disgusting to watch brutal images such as
the WTC Towers get hit while pretty music played and anti-American potshots
scrolled by.
Her idea of understanding Arab opinion was to let two Arab snobs whine about
support for Israel and nameless pro-American regimes. As if they knew what
regular Arab folks thought.
There was absolutely no balance. The closest came from NY Times columnist Tom
Friedman, a smart and nice guy, but a bit too obsessed with the touchy-feely
stuff.
A clip was shown of radical Muslim clerics trashing America in their sermon,
and then mindless litle terrorist recruits chanting back. Instead of making
the common-sense observation that maybe some Arabs hate us because they're
brainwashed....Oprah and her gang of experts blamed everything on bad American
policies.
And then there's the phoniness of Oprah herself. She's the last person to
preach about failing to help Iraq rebuild....after she backed out of helping an
Afghan women's relief effort because it was in the way of her schedule. Boo
hoo.
I don't think Oprah is all that bad. But methinks she blew it, and showed some
very negative "true colors."

Look at the first word in my sentence. I think you'll find it's "IF."

you don't know what you are talking about. oprah just did a show on schools in
afghanistan. Oprah personally donated money to build two new schools there.
what have YOU done lately to help?

i thought it was a great show and explored why this country has so many people
hating us. listen and learn.
Hudson
If that's true, I'm glad she made up for dissing Afghanistan relief efforts
early on and congratulate her for it.
>what have YOU done lately to help?
Supported the American government and liberation of Iraq instead of siding with
Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, and the anti-American Extreme Left.
>i thought it was a great show and explored why this country has so many

It was good in showing that the anti-war and Al Qaeda folks are driven by
ignorance and hate. Dress Michael Moore up like an Arab and he'd fit right in
with the anti-American mullahs.
Beats disagreeing with self important nobodies like you
e
One nation under surveillance.
Then you believe both Oprah and
Ron were expressing their opinions according to their first ammendment rights.
Why did you comment in the first place?
Are you overly bored tonight?
Now you may disagree with foreign policy, but when you devote fifty
minutes solely to talking about how bad the United States, well,
people, that IS anti-American.
Oprah apparently enjoys the luxuries and wealth that the "Great Satan"
has brought her, yet she feels that all of the decisions made to keep
America a democratic, capitalistic nation are evil. Dr. Phil should
really talk to her about the inconsistency with this logic.

Who is Michael Moore? A stupid white man?

oh please. you mean the iraqi's that we are going to kill before we liberate
them? i'll bet you're just exhausted from all that supporting, huh?

you missed the entire point then. her show was trying to illustrate how we got
to 9/11, i.e. how we (America and Americans) are perceived by other countries
across the globe.

she never said any such thing. nice job at twisting.

I agree with you, Hudson girl. I also thought the show was balanced. I
rarely watch Oprah, but I thought this show was fairly impressive.
troika boika
I think that's the main reason why the show was horrible.
Oprah dropped the ball by not having any balance. Just turned into a Blame
America whine fest, with the snotty attitude that anybody who disagrees is
outright retarded.
Not always. Although this particular batch of anti-Americans were motivated by
racism.
>Would you have included the "couple"
>if they were complaining about any other member of the pro-US coalition?
Actually they complained about a bunch of US allies. Although they were wimps
and didn't name any.
