Lack of brushing?
Medical condition?
Smoking crack/meth?
Every biography of Shane I read always mentions his teeth, yet I have been
unable to find a single one that explains what happened to them for them to
end up in such a state.
Saw him on TV the other day - he looked really sick and didn't seem to know
where he was or what he was supposed to be talking about. He reminded me of
someone with alzeimers disease. He also looks like he's got about 3 teeth
left at the front. I felt concerned for him - I don't want him to die.
Stop f***ing cross posting!

You reckon there's any truth in the rumour that John Lydon wears a
pair of specially made 'rotten looking' dentures?
I heard that most of his own teeth fell out in the last ten years, so
he decided to have the rest removed.

I know his family's been getting him drunk since he was three. I think
that's had an effect on his cognition skills.
As for the teeth, being from a working class family, I wouldn't be
surprised if he's never been to a dentist. Ever.

I heard he yanked 'em out himself. Gouged 'em right out with a corkscrew.
Shane's dentist don't work too hard, always at the pub
Shane says he ain't comin' back 'til they're down to a nub.

I read about that in 'A Drink With Shane MacGowan', though I'm not
sure whether to believe it or not, considering that he exaggerates
stories about himself to such a huge extent in that book (hilariously
contradicting himself later).

Probably had a few knocked out over the years too.
It's possible that the drugs had something to do with it - Shane does
openly talk about how he used to smoke crack (and how he now thinks
it's a mug's game).
>other than one at the front being missing, they looked ok a few weeks

That's the story - he had a pair of dentures made up to look like that
so no-one would know that he was wearing them...

If I had teeth like Rotten, I'd be proud of them.
Are you wondering if you are not sure whether to believe it or not?

my teeth are aching now. thanks.
Check out his website www.shanemcgowan.com. Its very peculiar. It
appears to be run by Shane's dad, Maurice McGowan, all these strange
random things on it, like a petition to fire Shane's tour manager.
WTF?

shaneMACgowan.com actually. Everyone seems to spell his name wrong -
they actually get it wrong on the Pogues Live album... ;)

I think it was something to do with Shane's dad thinking that his
manager was a bad influence on him and was leading Shane off the rails
again.

If the rumours are to be believed, then it may indeed be the case that
the lyrics to 'The Old Man Drag' are autobiographical... ;)

a good friend of mines met him several times and says he's a real
cock, though he conceded that when you're that well known you can't be
nice to most people or you'd never get any time to yourself or your
friends.
