"March 23, 2003
If you've been following the news, on my main page or in the forum,
you will have heard about the tragedy in which Laura was killed by
gunshot wounds and Sylvia has been charged with the crime. However the
case is not as simple as that. The actual quarrel was not with Laura,
but unfortunately she was in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
I don't know what was going through Sylvia's mind that night, or what
her motives were, but I'm sure that shooting Laura was not in her
plans. The way I see it is that all involved got into a situation that
simply escalated out of control.
With that being said, there are those of you out there who care about
Sylvia and will want to write to her and/or send her money. The
donations go into her account at the jail. She can use the funds to
help pay for her legal defense or to simply purchase personal items,
while in jail. So you can send letters and/or donations to:
Amara Vadillo #7624988, module 5400
Terminal Annex
PO Box 86164
Los Angeles, Ca 90086-0164
Payments can only be made by money order and the money order must have
her name and booking number (7624988). No cash or personal checks are
accepted.
Also, there is a way to keep track of Sylvia or anyone in the custody
of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. by going to this link ->
http://pajis.lasd.org/ajis_search.cfm and entering the person's name
or booking number. You can see info on where the person is, court
dates, etc. There is also the inmate information line, which is 213
473-6100. The website is much easier however.
I found out that visiting her is next to impossible. Due to her
situation, she can only have 1 visit per day. And I heard that may
even be one per week. I went to the jail on Saturday, but didn't get
to see her for that reason. However I'm sure some mail will help her
feel better.
I wish Sylvia the best of luck with her situation and will be
following it.

Bob posted this message after the verdict came down:
"June 17, 2004
I have an update on Sylvia's situation. Her trial has concluded and
she has been convicted of second degree murder. I attended court and
watched the closing arguments of both sides. The prosecutor was still
driving for a 1st degree murder conviction. The jury was given four
options by the prosecutor, which were: First and second degree murder,
voluntary & involuntary manslaughter.
Realistically I didn't think Sylvia should have been found completely
innocent. But knowing what I know, I think a manslaughter verdict
would have been more appropriate. Unfortunately the jury doesn't get
to see the whole scenario. And as I see it, the prosecution presented
a more convincing case than the defense did, especially in the closing
arguments. Her sentence will be given out on June 28. If any of you
are friends of Sylvia and would like to send a letter to the court on
her behalf, address it to:
Judge Richard A. Stone
9355 Burton Way
Beverly Hills, CA 90210
Of course make it soon, so the judge receives it before the sentencing
date. I wish her the best of luck on that part.
I know I've said this before, but I hope the TG community in general
will learn something from the two lives that were wasted on March 17,
2003. Unfortunately I still see the idiotic catfights happening. They
may be less frequent than before, but they still happen and you never
know when a "simple catfight" will escalate into tragedy. That's all I
have to say about that.
