People who drive pastel-colored cars are eight times more likely to have
suffered depression than folks whose cars are blue or silver, according to a
study.
Drivers of pastel-colored cars - such as lilac, lime and beige - are also most
likely to be harassed by other drivers. Motorists in green cars are rarely
hassled by other drivers - and owners of black and red cars are in hot
competition with each other.
"Color preferences can indicate a definite psycho-social pecking order on the
roads." says psychologist Conrad King, who conducted the study. "Choice of car
color says more about someone's personality than the clothes they wear or house
they live in. And society is changing, it is reflected to some extent by the
color of the cars people drive."
Sorry, but this assessment misses the mark entirely, if you apply it to
Marianna's pink pickup truck (still some mud on the flaps from attempting to
run over Tommy Lee two weeks ago).

"Shut up and get in the truck"
I had a funny experience at the dealership when I bought my (then new)
'94 Corolla. I knew that was the model of car I wanted and threre were
many that were ready to drive off the lot. I saw a back, tan, and blue
car. I did not want the blue car as that tends to attract the bird dung
like crazy (my dad was forever washing the blue Caddy he had), black
would be too hot in a sweltering summer and I was neutral on the tan
vehicle. I got a real *funny* look from the salesman when I asked if
there were any cars red or yellow. The yellow one had been driven away
several days before and the supply of cars although plenitful was low
and they did not have a red car in that model for some time. Then the
'tan' car started to grow on me and after we took it for a 45 minute
test-drive, I said "sold!".
Maryanne.
P.S. I have had police officers tell me the 'safest' color to have so
other drivers can see you IS yellow.

I used to have a red Toyota celica (God, I loved that car), and got picked up
once for running a red light....of course, after many minutes of listening to
me whine about it, and how I really didn't run the light (even though I finally
realized that being in the crossroads zone is really running the light) he also
told me that red cars attract much more attention when it comes to traffic
violations....that an airplane cop once told him that red cars "appear" to be
going faster than any other colored car from the air, gray cars the least
likely to get a ticket.
Billie....thinking he was probably just saying anything to get me to shut up
and pay my fine!
