The final rating for last night's Smackdown came in at a 3.8. That's bad.
Especially leading up to Wrestlemania.
Ah but the rumours about what they'll do to perk things up for Wrestlemania
include the names Eric Bischoff, Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage. I'll
assume they've already gotten started on cloning Andre the Giant. Too f'n sad
for words.
One more time: If you do not present nWo as a genuinely bad and evil threat
then you might as well let them go home and collect their downsides. This
means you tell Austin he has to job or HE can go home and collect his fucking
downside. He has to be on the losing side for awhile, none of this 'this show
you get me, that show I get you' crap. Oh, and get Stephanie off tv. Now. Or
have her pop out her boobs every show. She's killing both Triple H and
Jericho, now that he's her handmaiden/bitch.
Key points:
*Looks like the match between Billy and Chucky and APA originally scheduled for
Wrestlemania is off....they had the match on Smackdown and removed it from the
Wrestlemania card. Allrightyroo. Now they're booking WM on the fly...
*Austin had a gun! Which shoots out a net!! Which didn't work the first time
they tried it at the Smackdown taping so what you saw was a re-do. Which is
why the crowd didn't exactly pop when Nash finally got taken down by the net.
*Stephanie expects Jericho to do errands for her. Way to make the guy seem
like a real power player.
*JAPANESE SHAMPOO COMMERCIAL?? There will be a feud over this?? WTF???
Tajiri was funny as hell though.
*Ric Flair let Undertaker have it but good. Possibly the most entertaining
moment of the entire show with the exception of Al Snow running in to save
Maven from 'Taker.
*Goldust is now the new Hardcore Champion. There's a whole bunch of jokes in
this but I'm not going there.
*Christian's people skills are not all they could be. Perhaps he's a secret
McMahon
Match results:
*The Dudleyz with Jazz subbing for an 'injured' Stacy Keibler beat the Hardyz
and Lita. Well, Lita got beat anyway. I hate to shatter anyone's illusions
but I'm thinking Stacy's photo shoot injury might just have been a fake.
*The Big Show beat William Regal in a non-title match. Or Regal beat himself.
Something. Which will teach him to get clear of the giant after knocking him
out with the knuckles. Think this stuff through, dude.
*Maven retained the Hardcore title in his match with Goldust. Goldust pinned
him later after Undertaker beat the kid seven different ways to take the title
under the immensely convienient 24/7 rule. Chris Harvard was in the same
frickin' seat he had for Raw in Providence and got .5 seconds of face time.
Reports are he brought his own cheering section with him which has to be the
saddest thing since the last time Lawler tried to get himself in an angle.
*Undertaker beat the snot out of Al Snow after being challenged when Al came
out to save his protege's life. Can the Dead Man hold a grudge or what? This
would be a no contest since 'Taker never pinned Snow and got taken to the
woodshed himself by Ric Flair toting a pipe. 'Taker still doesn't have a match
at Wrestlemania with Flair, but Flair basically told him if he wanted to find
out what dirty play is like, he was welcome to get some more.
*Billy and Chuck beat APA to retain the Tag Team titles through foul play.
Well, if that was gonna be the deal at Wrestlemania, the Toronto audience can
consider themselves spared.
*Booker T beat Scotty 2 Hotty but lost the Japanese shampoo commercial to Edge.
*Kane and Triple H beat Angle and Jericho and Stephanie the master manager.
Girl, if you're gonna whack Kane with a chair put something into it. She just
will NOT take the damn Pedigree, will she?
****
WWF results from Yokohama, Japan 1st March:
*Intercontinental Title match, Regal beat Edge to retain
*Lita beat Mighty Molly
*Diamond Dallas Page beat Haku, presumably to retain the European Title
*Funaki beat The Hurricane. Taka Michinoku was in Funaki's corner
*Billy and Chuck beat The Hardyz to retain the Tag Team titles
*Ric Flair came out to talk to the crowd and spoke about all the times he's
worked in Japan. Regal ran out to attack Flair and got put in the figure-four
for his reward.
*Tajiri w/Torrie Wilson beat Billy Kidman to retain the Cruiserweight title.
Green mist!!
*Kane and The Big Show beat The Dudleyz w/Stacy Keibler
*Chris Jericho pinned The Rock to retain the Unified titles. Well, he won
because the Dudleyz ran in to interfere. Then the Rock cut a promo on Jericho
implying a preference for strudel over pie.
Keiji Muto and Naoya Ogawa were the TV commentators.
Shane McMahon made an appearance to greet the crowd. The audience was said to
be really hot and appreciative of the show. Merchandise moved, let's put it
that way.
The Rock flew in on Wednesday to do publicity for the Scorpion King movie and
got the WWF a lot of media attention

Tough Enough 2 premiered Thursday at 10 p.m. Eastern on MTV. This was the
hour-long casting special and to be honest I didn't find it at all riveting.
Nobody came across with the instant charisma of a Maven, in my opinion. Of the
girls chosen I'm thinking the tall blonde, Anni, is pretty much a shoo-in
unless she quits, gets injured or is just hopelessly uncoordinated physically.
Of the guys....well, they're mostly big, they're mostly fit and the big fireman
guy is border-line scary. What I most noticed was that Jim Ross really does
look at the talent as livestock, doesn't he? If only he could get the tall
blonde and the guy from the large family to breed.......
Tough Enough 2 will run on Thursday nights on MTV at 10 p.m. For more
information including a look at the house and the cast go here:
http://www.wwftoughenough.com/index.html I can't spend too much time there
because the big honkin' typo on the front page is just too annoying. And I'm
not telling them which word is wrong; they can proofread the text themselves.

I kept thinking that I had seen him somewhere before and when they showed his
hometown it hit me that I'd seen him working out at the gym. A homeboy! And
we come from a very small place. One of the girls I work with knows him and
says he's a really really nice guy. Never did figure out what that hair thing
is all about though. We're mostly cowboys around here, so he kinda sticks out.

He struck me as the kind of guy who could set a goal and God save whoever
decided to get between him and it. Which is not a bad thing, especially in the
context of Tough Enough 2. It IS a contest. But it's good to know he can be a
nice guy.

Or, like I was first taught at work: overnights are the votes from the
major/larger cities, and nationals are what happen after you factor in all
the square states in the middle. <g>
Leilani-
Plus nationals show that all important 18-49 info, so they're everyone's
favorites.....

I *never* want to see that look on JR's face when he gets started talking
about good genetics and such ever again. Ever.
I liked Anni also. And Alicia with that attitude- although I am looking
forward to Ivory possibly breaking her of some of that soon. And Jessie-
what a rough life. But I don't really think that I want any of the women
that I like to actually win this thing, if that makes sense- seems we
see/hear more about Taylor than Nidia, second place seems to be a good spot
where the women's TE champ is concerned.....
The big guys Matthew and Jacob were good, they were really moving and all,
and I liked Robert too- so humble, but I think that hyperboy named Hawk is
going to be my favorite..the kid jumped in the pool *again* for Ivory, gotta
love that.....
Leilani-
I know, I enjoyed the hyper one, you are all shocked. :)
Yes they did. And I was particularly impressed by the prop, which looked like
a bottle of Suave Balsam and Protein with a piece of construction paper taped
over the label. At least the construction paper had Japanese characters
written on it. I'm assuming they went to Tajiri or Funaki and said "You can
write Japanese, right? Write 'shampoo' on this." I wonder if what that label
really says is "Dear All-Japan Wrestling: Help. I am a small talented Japanese
man being held prisoner by these goof-balls."
But Edge does have great hair.

I think "Que?" is going to be one of my crowd signs at WM...
Yep- unless you manage to beat a show in the nationals that you didn't in

really too sure who won.....
Leilani-
who watches maybe one or two of the top ten shows of the week- sooo not an

Spin control makes me dizzy. That's kinda why I stick to the final rating so I
can make sense of it in my mind. Going back and forth is hurtful.

Nidia and Maven taped some bits which were inserted into the Tough Enough
marathon on MTV. I called the spouse, who is something of an amateur expert in
these matters, to come to the TV. I never really checked out her bosom before.
I said "Implants?"
He said "Yeah."
I said "Face?"
He said "I think she had her eyes done. Maybe her nose too."
He used to hang out with strippers. He can spot implants at 50 yards.
But, unlike Stephanie, hers aren't so big that unless she's showing a lot of
cleavage she has Pigeon Bosom.

First, we'd just have to take out some of the existing Nielsen

Eyes, nose *and* chest, though? Sheesh.
I mean I guess a person could go through several rounds of plastic surgery

to decrease the obviousness of that 'complete overhaul' look.....

Not right off. It seems the WWF has something Bret could use, but in the end
he couldn't justify selling his soul to the WWF. Interesting as hell, that

I'll argue that it's possible, remotely that she was very well made-up and very
well-lit for those vignettes. But the corners of her eyes used to sort of
droop down and they don't anymore. It worries me when they start surgically
fucking around with the face. Tori was just so pretty before she got the cheek
implants and lips done. Then she just looked swollen and didn't have much in
the way of facial expression. Sad.

I can guarantee you had they suggested that I needed that much work I'd have
said 'Adios, motherfucker' and found a good independent school. Especially
when you consider what their tweaking of Palumbo's appearance has lead to. >>
Well, he's hyper but in a fed which has Scotty 2 Hotty he'll fit right in.

Hell, he could crack walnuts with that jaw of his.

Very interesting, and good for him.....but damn is that a lot to give up-
wow.

Sure he can.
He won't, but he can.

Yeah- turns out you do kinda need a lot of those little nerves and whatnot
in the face for stuff....

Especially

That's just cause all the jell-us guys backstage were trying to ugly him
up.....and it succeeded.....
Do you think if I bring pictures of Palumbo Before the Uglying Up to Axxess
that he'd sign them? Or would he not want to be reminded of those days?

Hey!! There is to be picking on my favorite TE2 hyperboy!
And especially no suggesting that he breed with Joanie...ewwww... <g>
Leilani-
I prefer to think of him doing something else with that mouth of his,
thankyouverymuch.....

Yeah it is.
On one message board they're trying to explain to a fanboy or girl that, yeah,
Bret sure can buy WWF generated videos to SEE himself in old footage and
photos, but that's not the friggin' point.

His thighs might get chapped or something.

It's the wig, isn't it?

They should not be taken seriously as appearance consultants. EVER.

Poor Chuck. He was so handsome.

Baran: Now Hawk is the designated hottie for TE2
Oy.
See- there's someone who should have his/her right to post taken away....

Nooooo, that would not be A Good Thing....

That too, but the package entire just really works for him, he pulls it all
together very nicely.

Wonder if it's the same people who tell Princess Stephie she looks good....

So don't remind him of the good ol' days then?
That hair.....all gone.....<sniff>.....

You're welcome. :)

For now. Until he's voted out.
Leilani-
JR wasn't too impressed with his genetics, which is probably not so good for
TE2's ADD-boy....
>Oy.
>See- there's someone who should have his/her right to post taken away....
Now, you can't start taking away the clueless' right to post. There'd be next
to none, and my guilty pleasure on the archaeology ng would vanish. My God,
she's thick as a brick. But bizarrely entertaining.

He does look absolutely damn fine.

Nah, that's Hunter getting even for all the times she's annoyed him. "No,
babe, you look great...."

From gorgeous to...this. Let sleeping dogs lie, I say. Bad enough he has to
look in the mirror.

Watching JR and his tummy carp on the weight problems of others hurt my f'n
mind.

Baran: Oh, pot, kettle, Rustoleum
So, does she get the diff yet between him buying a tape of his own match and
him actually owning/being able to control said footage?

are we talking the 'litter of pups' line? <g>
Leilani-
JR just has BBQ sauce belly, 'tis all.....
>So, does she get the diff yet between him buying a tape of his own match and

That one, on a wrestling message board, has gone suspiciously quiet. I'm
suspecting a "D'OH!" moment of enlightenment has occurred.

No, he seemed to be under the impression that Anni had a weight problem. Now,
she could have tighter abs, but that's not the same as being fat.
>Leilani-
>JR just has BBQ sauce belly, 'tis all.....
And stupid Hat Hair, which is why he wears that damn thing most of the time.

Baran: Maybe he thinks it looks cool. Get him OFF the Appearance Consultant
list.
