I've just read Salon's feature on Mamie Van Doren:

What I found particularly interesting were her revelations about "personal
matters" regarding some of the men in her life:

her accounts of her "date" with Rock Hudson and her encounter with Jack Webb
(when he, according to her, drugged and raped her. Years later she was
upset to see him deified at a police banquet because of his "Dragnet"

One thing I wonder about - according to Elvira, Tom Jones was large enough
to cause injury - why was this not the case for Mamie's experience?

Well, maybe that's the key: she was a virgin, so not only
did she have little or nothing to compare him to, but the

I was wondering the same thing. According to most accounts Tom is large and
Warren Battey is average. Doesn't add up....ha ha ha...
