The real Rene Russo and Pierce Brosnan in a scene from 'The Thomas Crown

Rene Russo and Pierce Brosnan look like they're really steaming up the screen
in their new thriller, "The Thomas Crown Affair."
But those aren't the two stars' bodies writhing and twisting in some of their
sex-charged scenes. Russo and Brosnan had body doubles do the dirty deed on the
marble floor and staircase of the elegant townhouse owned by Brosnan's
character.
"There were a lot of times when I said, 'You know what, please, I don't want to
be on that large marble floor day after day,'" Russo told us at the film's
premiere party at Southampton's Club Collette on Saturday night. "But whenever
it was us together in closeup, we had to appear in those scenes. It wasn't
easy."
And Russo knows that she'll face the wrath of religious zealots for those sex
scenes, whether they're filmed with or without her nude body.
"I'll have Christians judge me definitely for this part," says Russo. And the
religious-minded actress wouldn't exactly disagree with them. "For me, I would
know somebody emotionally before I sleep with them ... but I'm not saying
that's for everyone."
Among the true believers at the Bulgari-sponsored screening were George and
Libby Pataki, models Esther Canadas and Mark Vanderloo, Chevy Chase, Denis
Leary, media man Richard Torrenzano, and Donald Trump, who ran into ex-wives
Marla Maples (with her new beau, Michael Mailer) and Ivana Trump.

That's interesting, considering Pierce told US magazine that neither used
body doubles in those scenes.

Rudy
used body doubles in a scene that had them rolling around on the floor. That
particular scene was shot from a distance and their faces wouldn't be made
out anyway. He said that he and Rene performed the actual nude love scenes.
Rene will be on Regis and Kathy Lee on Friday to talk more about her first
nude scene.
