Tottenville HS teen takes porn star to the prom

It promised to be a night to remember and certainly the date of
his dreams for young Brad Parascandolo last night as he escorted
hard-core pornography star Houston to the Tottenville High
School prom.
Parascandolo, 18, who called shock-jock Howard Stern more
than three weeks ago requesting Houston's company on prom night,
won the provocative date after playing a matching game on
Stern's nationally syndicated morning radio show on June 10.
Board of Education officials said they had no choice but to welcome
Parascandolo and his off-color guest because there are no restrictions
currently on the books concerning choice of prom escorts.
Nevertheless, the unusual pairing has raised plenty of eyebrows not
only across Staten Island but across the country in the intervening
week and a half, with males generally much more supportive of the move
than females.
The school prom was held in the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Manhattan.
Yesterday, "pro-choice" Staten Islanders far outweighed the nay-sayers
as the famous porn queen stepped out of her sleek black limousine and
onto the sidewalk in front of Parascandolo's Arden Heights home to the
delight of some 150 gawking onlookers, including mail carriers and
ice-cream vendors.
Houston wore a low-cut black gown and sparkly sunglasses. Parascandolo
added a wrist corsage of white roses.
"It's got the whole Island crazy," said Mike Vitale, 21, of Arden
Heights, who was lined up with about a dozen of his buddies across the
street ogling the front door.
"Her dress was beautiful," sighed his friend, Michael Suo, a senior at
Tottenville High School who chose to sit out the prom. "This is the
same as going."
"I like it. It shows a lot of guts," said Joseph Palmiotto, also a
senior at Tottenville High School.
Even most of the ladies got into the spirit. "She's a down-to-earth
type of person," reported Melissa Lotito of Great Kills who was
accompanying a Tottenville student to the prom. "It's so weird because
she said her life is this big, busy thing and then she comes to this
quaint place. She called [Staten Island] a sanctuary."
Ms. Lotito said she was not at all intimidated by the prospect of
having to share the spotlight with a 30-something porn star. "There's
always going to be someone bigger and better. Anyone can outshine you.
You have to feel good about yourself," she said.
"I say go for it," said Margie Gomez of Rossville, one of the guests
at the prom. "You have one chance. This is one night in your life. You
should have a good time."
"There's nothing wrong with it. It shouldn't be such a big thing,"
said Melissa Scura, a prom-goer from Huguenot.
The parents of some of Parascandolo's pre-prom party guests were also
good sports.
"I want it to be good for the kids. I want the kids to have a good
time," said Arden Heights resident Kathy Spezio whose son Steve was
equally sanguine.
"I'm just going to go and have a good time," said Steve.
"It's different. I don't see anything wrong with it," said Dominick
Mineo of Arden Heights whose son, Massimo, is Parascandolo's best
friend.
Adam Padilla, a 1994 Tottenville High School graduate who crafted a
"best wishes" prom greeting for his pal Parascandolo and his date,
said his friend "wants to get into the entertainment industry and
films anyway. This was no set up at all. Howard [Stern] took a liking
to him."
For her part, Houston graciously autographed countless commemorative
photos of herself for party guests and posed for photographs in the
Parascandolo home. "I feel really flattered. I'll be in the family
album," she laughed.
Houston said she was looking to "have a blast. I will try to give him
the best time I can possibly give him. I want him to have the most
wonderful night."
The porn star, a veteran of some 16 videos with another on the way,
was expected to accompany Parascandolo not only to the prom but to
some Manhattan clubs afterward.
Parascandolo's mother Stephanie Parascandolo, who has taken plenty of
criticism recently for supporting her son's desire to escort Houston,
was simply a typical nervous mother yesterday, besieged by an overflow
crowd of teens looking to party with a celebrity guest and camera
crews from Stern's television show.
After first catching a glimpse of Houston in her limo, Ms.
Parascandolo told her son he'd be impressed. "She looks like a star, a
Barbie doll. Wait 'til you see her," she said.
Ms. Parascandolo said her son's father has also supported the date.
She said he had not planned, however, to be part of the prom
festivities.
Parascandolo will be live on Stern's radio show tomorrow morning to
recap his prom night for the public. Film footage of the evening may
be used on Stern's television show in the next two weeks, said
Parascandolo.

I turned into Stern late this morning, but they were talking about some romance
going on...did anyone else hear what was said?
