NY POST...PAGE SIX...

IN what appears to be the ultimate diva act, Tina Turner skipped her own
mother's funeral.

Though the sultry songstress fought back tears at a London TV recording as she
dedicated a song to mom Zelma Bullock - who died last weekend - she didn't turn
up in Los Angeles to bid her a final farewell, according to several sources.

The funeral for Zelma, 86, was Wednesday.

Just days before, her rock-legend daughter had been in the U.K. to film "Happy
Birthday Tina" for London's ITV.

During the taping, an emotion-choked Turner told the audience her new song,
"Talk From the Heart," from her new CD, "24/7," is a tribute to her mom.

But, while Turner reportedly was slated to fly home for the funeral, she never
made it to Forest Lawn Cemetery, sources told PAGE SIX.

Her ex, Ike Turner, and their son, Ronny were at the cemetery service, "but
Tina was a no-show," says our insider. Her rep, Luke Berland, did not return
repeated calls.

And, while Tina's family mourned in Los Angeles, Turner reportedly headed to
the south of France, where she has lived for years.

Meanwhile, Ike Turner, who stayed close to Zelma throughout his tempestous
marriage to Tina, was reportedly devastated by his former mother-in-law's
death.

"She treated him like her own son," says a friend. "She was very good to him,
and he was very good to her. Her death was a great blow. He really loved
Zelma."

Ike, who reportedly helped shuttle Zelma's friends to her service and took care
of other funeral details, did not return calls.

However, he was apparently as flummoxed as everyone else by his ex-wife's
absence.

Tina also astounded some observers with how quickly she put Zelma's house on
the market.

Turner, who grew up a sharecropper's daughter in Nutbush, Tenn., bought the $1
million-plus Hollywood Hills spread years ago, and installed her sister Eileen
in the manse to help take care of Zelma.

But, says one source, "Tina wasted no time putting the house up for sale. It
was on the market by the end of the week, and Eileen was moved into a condo."

Isn't this the same mother who would tell Ike where she was and have him come
get Tina? And also insisted she stay with Ike? No wonder she could care less...

that would be the same mother who left her behind in Nutbush with
grandparents.

Good for her. Maybe she'll start a new age in grieving for your loved ones.
Funerals are wayyyyyyyy out of hand. First there's endless days of staring at
a dead body at the funeral home while people weep and mourn. Then, on the day
of the funeral there's a service at the funeral home that goes on wayyyyy to
long, then everyone tucks to their vehicles and goes to the church. There's a
service there that's wayyyyyy, wayyyyy too long and sometimes even includes the
immediate family sobbing through some readings (god what a hidious idea --
let's torture the family and the friends by watching more open, raw grief),
then it's back to your vehicles for a trip to the cemetery. Depending on how
much the family wants to make you suffer (or show how much they loved the dead
person) there's MORE services there -- sometimes at the graveside -- until you
are so emotionally drained that you have to go home and spend the rest of the
day in bed yourself -- and that's for people outside the immediate family!

When my father died we had two hours of visitiation at the funeral home (no
body on display, just happy pictures of him and a few tasteful flowers) and a
15 minute service after which we took all the mourners out for a great dinner
at the best local restaurant at which the family picked up the dinner and bar
tab. Now THAT'S how to have a funeral. May it start a fad.

I can't say that I blame her either. The woman turned on her from childhood. She was not loyal to her except for her own gain.

Well I think Tina did the best she could. Ad a mom myself its no way I would be close to anyone that was or is abusive to any of my children. Tina did share her wealth with her mom. That itself showed honor and respect.

Tina is such a dramatic diva. I didn't realize she slipped her own mother's funeral. Maybe she still resented her for putting her out when Tina became a teen mom. Ike took her in and raised her son as his own.

You also forgot to add that your dad probably was rich and you couldn't wait for his death so you could squander his inheritance. How sickening.

I think it was an act of love on Tina's part (not sure her mother deserved it but...) and it obviously didn't work out that well.
But maybe Tina just wanted her mother to have that moment and for it to be about her, and not Tina (kinda like how her son's death has been treated)
Plus she deserved to be able to grieve away from the press.

From what I have read, Tina skipped the funeral to bypass the paparazzi that no double would have been present looking to take pictures of Tina. Losing a parent is difficult enough without 20 cameras pointed at you and taking snapshots. Besides, Tina’s presence at the funeral would have taken attention off of her mother. Also from what I read, while Tina skipped the funeral, she was present for her mother’s cremation.

Tina didn't skip because of paparazzi. She went to her sister's and son's funerals/spreading of ashes in full view of paparazzi in Southern California. Tina didnt go to Zelma's 1st of 2 services because her mother threw one last knife at Tina after death. She left money for Ike in her will (Tina's money, really), and left some words about him in her will about being a wonderful son-in-law and that she loved him. She also wanted him at her Forest Lawn Memorial Park service, and she said she wanted Ike to be part of it in some way (to parade him in front of her daughter, of course, so Tina didn't attend -- would you?) Tina did go to the 2nd service in Redondo Beach, CA to scatter the ashes in the ocean - ANOTHER SERVICE that TINA ALSO PAID FOR - where Ike was not invited, but the paparazzi showed up because Ike offered them the location for money. Also I read somehwhere in this thread that Tina put her mom's home up for sale within days as it is disrespectful or something. That home in Sherman Oaks, CA was Tina's home and she had worked her ass off to get that home when she was working her way back before the Private Dancer turnaround. Once her mom died, she got rid of it. So what? She bought homes for all of other family members, so there was no need for that home. It was hers and hers alone to sell.

She knew Tina had PTSD nightmares about Ike, and was still scared that one day, she'd open her front door and he'd be there to kill her. In the last years of Tina's life, she said that fear of Ike killing her only left when he died, yet, Zelma left him money (Tina's money) and wanted him at the funderal that Tina paid for? Horrible, horrible mother. So happy Tina had the courage to NOT go. Of course, the original article posted here is from the NY Post, a right wing trash rag.

No, Tina didn't take anything out on Zelma, as she had a right to for always telling Ike where she was when she ran away and even leaving Ike money in her will (Tina's money), saying in her will that she loved him as a son. Instead, Tina shared her wealth with her mother and allowed her to live a life of luxury starting when Tina was still in her 20s. Zelma never worked bc of Tina. Zelma was a jealous, disloyal betrayer. Ike didn't "take in Tina". Ike used Tina because she was the star, and he was nothing without her, even though he was talented - even a genius - he didn't have star power. Ike emotionally abused Tina's son, Craig. He would drag little Craig off Tina's lap after they had been on tour for 6 months and Craig missed his mother, and if Craig ever tried to get close to his mom as a toddler, Ike would drag him away from Tina's arms and throw him in his bed sobbing for his mom, calling the little boy names like "sissy". Craig said this in one of his last interviews. Craig committed suicide stemming from childhood trauma recently. On the contrary to what you wrote, it was Tina who took in Ike's boys and treated them like her own. When she left Ike and finally found a home, she had all four boys with her, even though only two kids were hers. The step-kids didn't call her Tina. All four boys called her mom. She fully financially supported Ike Jr and Michael up until Ike died in 2007 when they received an inheritance from Ike. Ike Jr then started talking trash about Tina, saying he didn't take money from her "anymore". Anymore? The man was 50 when he "stopped monthly support from Tina plus a home she paid for in full. Also, Ike Jr's inheritance was built from Tina giving up her rights to all the music she and Ike made, so in essence, Ike Jr was still taking money from Tina, just in a different form. Michael (Ike's youngest son with his ex Lorraine) was closest to Tina, along with her oldest boy Craig. They were the two sensitive kids of the four boys, who couldn't get over the childhood trauma their dad put them through, so Michael is in some type permanent nursing home situation and Tina paid for all of his care, and he will be cared for the rest of his life via a trust she has for him in the event of her death, which just happened last month. Ike Jr is the only offspring still living, but he doesn't seem to contribute to his little brother's care. Michael's care was Tina's job. Always has been her job, and she stayed loyal to that job. Tina acted as Michael's mother till the day she died, even though she wasn't Michael's mother. Even in her last photo book, she has a 70s photo of her and the four boys when they were teenagers, saying something like "Me and my four boys, don't they look handsome, this is my favorite family portrait." That book came out for Tina's 80th. Trash talking from Ike Jr. didn't matter. She called them "my boys" and said it was her favorite "family" photo. She's resting now, and deserves it.
