And, of course, getting someone more personable on the show to improve
ratings... and feeding him some of the answers... happened back in the
infancy of TV game shows. Given the extent of the reaction to that,
they're not going to try anything like that again.

I miss the days of the winners only being able to win 5 days in a row. I'm
sick of watching him.

Are you guys talking about the guy that hobbies include lighting
firecrackers and looks forward to the 7th grade? But, I understand he did
stay in a Holiday Inn Express.
Hey, it's been a long week already!
Anyone know if this is the most money that has ever been won on
Jeopardy?

AFAIK, it is -- but I thought this was repeat season for both Jeopardy
and Wheel of Fortune (it certainly is for Pyramid). Arthur

Stop the chop by deleting it from my address.
I was half kidding, but who wouldn't be jealous of half a million dollars?

How can he compare the 1990's version to the 1960's version that was FAR
superior (I think Allen Ludden hosted it, but probably a lot of posters
here are too young to remember it.)

Loved Leszek. My favorite Jeopardy champion was Frank Spangenberg.
Eddie Timanus was pretty amazing.
<<There was an article posted over on asg that said the only money this
clown ever won before was in the early 90's on College Bowl.

Absolutely right--the original College Bowl was far tougher than the
'90's ones--and they didn't use teen pop culture questions either.
But, so was Jeopardy much harder. They've dumbed that way down too.

Has it occurred to anyone that he looks like that cartoon character on
the Bugs Bunny cartoons? the little kid that Foghorn Leghorn (the big
rooster) has to babysit every now and then, the little egghead chicken
or whatever he is.

Heh! I was trying to think whom he reminds me of, and that's exactly
right! It was Baby Something-or-other, wasn't it?

This is the most money won by a contestant in regular play. I think there was
a Tournament of Champions round when they changed the money rules where someone
won a million.
Well, unless they just got to the end of the shooting schedule, and he turns
up next season as the continuing champion.
Kim ~ which would suck.
They shoot a week's worth of game shows in a day, so out of town contestants
probably go home between. I have no idea who pays for transpo in a
recurring situation (I assume the production company does, but contestants
may be responsible at one point or another, although the producers are in a
bad situation if a contestant like this refuses to return on his own dime --
with actors, the agent calls and makes those kinds of threats, I don't know
who makes those calls for game show folk).

For Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, the contestant pays his or her own way
unless they're called back for the Tournament of Champions or some other
special show.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire pays the contestants' air fare and hotel room and
gives a per diem. Unless the contestant wishes to bring a family member in,
all expenses are paid including transfers to the hotel.
What will he do with all these Jeopardy facts? Aside from annoying
people at cocktail parties, nothing. Of course I would like that
$500,000+ he has!!!!!!
