Phlog creation bash script?

Hello all

I'm hoping you can help me track down a bash script for automating the
creation of phlog entries which I had seen on a site somewhere but
can't find again. As far as I recall it will automatically create a
text file with the current date as the name and archive the previous
most recent phlog entry.
It would appear my google-fu is lacking as I can't find it again and I
don't have the required bash skills to write it myself. :(

If this rings a bell I'd appreciate a point in the right direction.
