Saudi Arabia is the worlds largest supplier of oil yet it is going
full bore into renewables. 100% in the near future is its goal. Just
something for deniers to contemplate. What do the Saudis know that you
don't?

Didn't read the article, did you. Saudi Arabia thinks oil is worth more
for making plastics and polymers... the nation's motivation to go
renewables has nothing to do with climate change or lowing carbon
emissions.

Great article. In the first paragraph the writer links to a Guardian article
that says this:

"But the process is likely to take decades, and some observers are sceptical as
to whether it is any more than window-dressing."

Yes I read the article and yes oil is too valuable to just burn. When
it is in plastic it does not contribute to global warming.

Foul mouthed little shithead isn't he.I never killed a seal.Almost all
Canadians never killed a seal. Most have not even seen a seal in the
wild.
A small number of Canadians kill seals. A large number of cattle are
slaughtered every day in the thousands. Get your ass down to the
nearest slaughter house and do something about it. I think baby cows
are sweet and cuddly just like baby seals. This thread was about the
switch to 100% renewable energy in Saudi Arabia.

Give me reliable solar and wind at competitive prices and I'm in like a
dirty shirt, gordo. Won't hold my breath, my grandkids might see the
day.

Good. It might be sooner than you think with countries awash in oil
like Saudi Arabia going that route.

Oh come now Gordo! There IS a difference you know! - Do we "eat" baby
seals? I doubt it! Huge numbers of humans DO eat meat of all sorts, as
one would expect from omnivores. In any case, cattle are killed very
humanely, unlike the baby seals which are not! OK, I realise that
culling is indeed very necessary, but it does need to be done
humanely.

Only the extremely wealthy can afford to go 100% renewable. SA didn't
become wealthy by way of providing camel rides to tourists. SA became
wealthy from fossil fuels.

The Inuit do indeed eat baby seals as well as adults. There is a large
vocal group in Canada who are opposed to the seal hunt. The seal hunt
has nothing to do with global warming except for the fact that last
years hunt was not very successful because of the early ice break up.

.The seal hunt in Canada is regulated. Seal numbers are counted. In
Greenland there is no control over the numbers killed. If you think
that slaughter houses kill animals humanely try getting in one to see
how they do it. You won't get in. Now why is it that you want to talk
about seals when the subject was Saudi Arabia planning 100% renewable
energy.
