NASA Realtime has just updated its sat-based estimate of avg seaice for Jun
2023. It finds the world's seaice recorded a record low for Jun at
only 17.2 mn km2 -- almost 1 mn km2 less than the prev record set in 2019.
The global low was set by an even more extreme record low in
Antarctica at just 8.49 mn km2 -- more than 1 mn km2 less than the
prev record set in that region also in 2019.
The Arctic Ocean is trying to hold up its end of the deal recording
8.71 mn km2, just outside the top 10 lowest years at #12.

[David Grusch's] assertion concerning the existence of a terrestrial arms
race occurring sub-rosa over the past eighty years focused on reverse
engineering technologies of unknown origin is fundamentally correct, as
is the indisputable realization that at least some of these technologies
of unknown origin derive from non-human intelligence.

The price of coastal flood mitigation in Europe
EDJNet, 06 May 2020
European countries are set to invest up to e2.82 billion per year until
2100 to avoid losing as much as e1.27 trillion due to climate-driven
coastal flood damage, a new analysis by the EU Joint Research Center shows.
In the next 80 years, European countries will have to pay a total yearly
amount of between e1.75 and e2.82 billion to reduce damages caused by
coastal flooding, according to a new study by the Joint Research Center
of the European Commission (JRC), published in the peer-reviewed Nature
Communications. The range of the estimate reflects uncertainty as to whether
global economies will go green, thus curbing global warming, or will keep
emitting carbon at current rates.
