With only Hadley's HadCRUT the last major series to report for Jun
2020 it's time for our monthly Call Of The Board to see how the
different data series mark the past 12m compared with historical values.
All hillbillies know NOAA is all forged, but what about UAH's LT series?
It seems pretty much they all grade the past 12m as in the top 10
since each series began, going back to 1850 for the SST-based ones.
As of Jun 2020 the median rank for the past 12m across all series is a
resounding 2nd-warmest on record.
Interestingly UAH's LT series grades the last 12m as +.51C above about
1980s averages and the warmest it's see since the start of the sat
era. Usually the atm 3-10 km above sea-level is slightly cooler than
the surface measures, esp anything with a land component, and hence is
the (formerly?) beloved series of climate contrarians, kooks and
charlatans. Sad!
The other upper atm series we follow Remote Sensing Systems's TLT
(turned to the atm around 2-10 km above MSL) shows a 2nd place.
Supposedly RSS is the "careful version" of analyzing the MSU/AMSU sat
data. Often showing warmer than UAH LT but today it's slightly cooler.
The NASA series (XXXtsdsst) as we might expect are showing first
prize. They supposedly have the best correction of polar temps and
are likely reflecting the heatwave conditions that we've been seeing
above 60N for the past at-least-6m.
The various results sorted by rank and relevant value are as follows:

NOTES:
Most series are temp anoms -- i.e. offsets relative to a baseline
usu chosen as the average of a recent 30y subset. Most baselines
work out at around 1980 apart from NASA's GISTEMP that is relative
to averages from the 1950s.
Seaice extent is an area in mns of km2.
Volume is strictly Arctic seaice volume in 1000s of km3.
Seaice from both poles is averaged together, hence "24 months".
Some series report quite late in the month as their "number of months"
will be less and the value will not include the latest month
(and, sometimes, several prev months as well).
